DIY with Quantum Boards

Chop chop time ... ( on sat )

Finishing up these ladies and will clean out grow area .... ( Mylar , bleach and maintenance)
Gonna drop the lights to reconfigure for the new build that is pretty much ready to hang.

Plant to rehang the 288 dual rig ( 90cri ) and add the Warp rig . This “ corner “ space has worked great and the “ fringe “ area of quantum footprint still grows the shit out of the plants.

Strains left to cut :

Peyote Blue ( my cross - Peyote Cookies x Blue Dream )
Wookie Wonder
GSG ( Girl Scout Glue )
Alpine Cookies

Already took down one other Peyote and a Blue Dream , dry hanging now.

My concern is that they will harbor heat in the narrow grooves and possibly do more harm than good?
Is this a logical thought?
Or are heatsinks, regardless of design, always going to help?

For instance, if I am able to source heatsinks with similar fin spacing for my QB and Atreum boards, will they be a positive addition?
Iv found a few on eBay for cheap with dimensions I like for boards but the fins are quite close.

Scrapped that idea for the core build . I wanted something more compact and linear in shape.

I started out running the boards at ~ 115 watts each. Started off with just one board. Then brought on a 2nd and so on as she grew. I eventually had all 4 towers going with 2 boards per tower. It was great but I wasn't able to light the entire plant the way I wanted. I considered building one or two more towers but really didn't want to do that. It then dawned on me that the drivers I bought were dimmable and I started experimenting with that. I had bought 18 QB's just for this and I wanted to figure out a way to use all of them (or at least most of them) and once I started dimming the boards I was able to experiment with how I positioned them on the towers. I went thru 3 or 4 iterations of this...none of which was how I'd imagined it. At any rate, once I dimmed them down to 60 watts I was able to go from 8 boards to 16 and use 2 rows.

So...long story short, the QB's are running at 60 watts so 60 * 16 = 960 watts
I also have a 315W CMH up above but this is probably not doing a whole lot (in comparison)

So...1275 watts of lights plus fans and other hydro related items. Pretty absurd for 1 plant, I know.

I purchased a couple dozen 1’ sinks from China on eBay for almost a buck a piece free shipping. 24 sinks for $30. Thought it was a killer deal for strip builds but the fins are very tightly spaced.

Uts all about total surface area. Spacing plays no part besides that the more you have and the higher they are the better.

That's a ton of light! Your gpw is going to be shit this run haha but once you get that dialed in you will be producing some crazy big plants

Looks good, if you get over a kilo from the one plant it’ll be worth it.
Is the cmh above the green power lamp or the 942?

Heatsinks are always a positive addition. Heatsink design is a lot more complex that just fin spacing. Heatsink USA has a calculator that will tell you how many sq.in of heatsink you need for a given wattage. https://www.heatsinkcalculator.com/calculator_heatsinkusa.html

heatsinks would be good for strip lights.
