DNA Sharksbreath grow in Hempy Buckets

I think I mentioned earlier that I start multiple plants for a grow, looking for the two healthiest and even in stature. I don't know if its today's feminized seeds but I get my share of strange deformations. I now start all 5 seeds of a pack due to successive problems with several breeder's products. Here is an example of two weird ones from my next grow (Crazy Miss Hyde) that will not make the cut. Note the large/small asymmetry on one and the strange ovular shaped first sets on the other. These fortunately are taking nutes at full strength per Canna's grow charts. I wasn't so fortunate with BF LSD and Blue Cheese. Even one of the Sharksbreath in this grow couldn't tolerate full-on nutes.

Closing in on the end of week 7....I'll be looking at trich's under the scope every day from here out. Girls are fading fast...really kind-of gruesome up close. I had broken a lower branch accidentally on purpose, that I dried out. I rolled a jay with the popcorn buds once dried....nice sweet citrus taste and extremely piercing yet comfortable high. No rattled thoughts at all, just all out upper "satty" mind and lower body "indy" high combo. I slept like a baby thereafter. If the popcorn is that good then I'm in for stellar stoneage with the big buds up top.

Great looking again jella. Looks like the SB is one of those strains that just keeps building new bud hairs right to the end. Which makes it hard to tell when they are really finished. My MW and most of the crosses have that characteristic.

I grow on a small scale in a tent for my wife and mine’s personal medication and we live in a medically legal state where we have cultivation rights. I have learned over the years that less plants in my grow space means “bigger plants” with better yields so I tend to run just 2-plants in a perpetual grow and usually hit >4oz per plant with the hempy method and a good medium. The hempy method is a very simple and effective “drain to waste” hydroponic method that is perfect for the amount of attention I can afford to give with my workaholic lifestyle. You will see shortcuts and tricks I use to minimize watering, make mixing nutes easier and virtually remove the need for checking pH and PPM’s.


Here is my meager but effective setup:

4.5’ x 2.5’ x 6.5’ high tent (Hydro Hut Silver Addition)

Lighting: Veg-T5’s, Flower–400w Digilux HPS with Lumatek digital ballast and Sun System’s II Air-Cooled Reflector

4” 165CFM exhaust fan

Grow Medium: A mixture of 75% Canna Coco and 25% Grodan Rockwool Grow-chunks in 2gallon hempy buckets. The reservoir of the bucket is all rockwool grow-chunks.

Nutrients: Canna Coco A&B, CaliMagic (Cal/Mag) Rhizotonic, Cannazyme, Pk13/14 and Canna "Boost".

We have a lot in common... I also grow for me and my girl in a 400w tent... 5' x 3' x 7' and 4" 172cfm inline with cooltube. I run DWC buckets, but my girlfriend is starting some 2L or 1G hempys to throw in the tent lollipop style. She is the same way wanting to grow herbs and flowers now... but she will have to do that outside on the balcony.

I have been interested in this strain for a while because of the lambsbread. Only thing I have heard was one guy said it wasn't that great.


.... we even have the same stupid hygrometer.

Im legal as you can be in a med/rec state but have an old lady school teacher next door who is very nosey...and i tend to have more than the 30 plants allowed sometimes oops.

Dream Lotus was a low odor strain as well.

Yeah Watts, you picked up on that too....I haven't seen one red/orange hair yet. Last night I checked trike's and they aren't all cloudy yet...still some clear's in there. Like other grows, I'll probably stick my head in the tent one morning and suddenly see the color change.

Who-kie, by far the most prolific grow with the most pungent high was G13 Pineapple Express. I think I got 4.7 zips per plant on that one. If I were a commercial grower, that would be the strain to run.

Welcome Malevolence, glad to see another tent dweller. I'll bet you pull off some nice yields in DWC. I've always wanted to try DWC but my initial trails with another hydro method proved ill fated with the high temps in my climate...I can grow slime faster that anyone I know. Hempy became my cure-all hydro method and it truly fits my busy lifestyle. I bought my wife a 4' floro with stand (Hydro-farm "Jumpstart") where she grows basil, thyme, oregano, ornamental tobacco and avocado. We keep cutting on the basil and it keeps growing back. We put cuttings in a glass of water to keep fresh for a few days and that stuff will start rooting like clones. It appears to repel bugs too....haven't seen a white-fly yet, anywhere near it. The other day, for the first time I smelled the slightest hint of "skunk"..it was coming from the Italian basil, believe it or not. You and I need some camouflage for that cheap hygrometer. don't we?

50 days flower...1 day into week #8, decided to give them one more normal feeding...At the start of next week its flush time. I had my wife hold a tape measure to the base of the longest cola...now @ 26".....Getting fatter every day as usually in the end.

Jela you said you would grow p.e. 13 if you was a commercial grower. Well I'm not but its my first time growing p.e.. Also it will be my first time doing 2l hempy sog. I have about 80 of them I'm about to fire up tomorrow under 2x600's. how's the smoke on the p.e. and what was your flowering time on the Pineapple Express? Thanks.

sky rocket, good choice with PE..very robust plant growth and low on odor compared to many other strains (still a great fruity citrus taste) Here's a link where I published the grow in "mapito". I took them down at 57 days. The smoke was not for me, just as Scottyballs here on RIU attested after his phenomenal grow. It is extremely strong...causes scattered thoughts & emotions to the point that it works against any relaxing or social attributes. I was high watching a movie on TV and in my mind started running a plot in parallel with the original, then a 3rd alternate plot in parallel with those two. 15 minutes later I didn't know what I had watched (duughhhh). Patients I shared with want more...and compliments from that grow keep coming to this very day. I guess they like going temporarily insane (LOL). Everybody's different including me...still can't get those voices out my head. Here's the link.

Checked the SB tonight after work and the bud weight is getting so heavy that a lot of branches are splaying outward...had to get in there with green-wire and bundle things up. The smell is up, with the tent open that long, my wife down the hall said "wow it sure smells good out here....smells like grapefruit". With all this bud I can only imagine the work trimming...thinking I'll buy a spin trimmer for the small stuff and hand trim the big buds.It will change the way I dry though.

53 days - middle of week 8 flowering. Sorry for the crappy pics, I was in a hurry after the lights went off...my camera hates those reflective walls as it screws with the focus and flash. Just opening the tent is a surprise right now, the buds are so heavy branches just may fall out the front door when opening (even after tying the bunch up a couple days ago). The trich's are all milky now so I've strated flush. This time I'm going with Canna's recommendation to continue the Cannazyme and Boost throughout he flush. They haven't let me down yet so....

Thanks Who-kie, all I can say is theses are about the ugliest plants at finish that I have ever grown...the yield is there, the smell is low-key but nice/fruity and the stick'em is all there...just ugly as dinosaurs. I'll bet ya it kicks royal booty when ingested (ugly duckling propaganda).

Great grow, and great info Jela10! I have been using a modified hempy, using airpots and a 14" oversized catch basin as the res. The basin is 4" deep. I was using 75%perlite and 25% peat, but found Dalia's hempy coco thread at the other site you spoke of three days ago. Just swithced my new babies(Paradise Seeds Delahaze, and Greenhouse AMS) into their coco hempys last night. Looking forward to the results. Here is my Blue Lemon Thai from CH9. It actually was a 55 day flower, not 60! Got just 5g shy of 5oz from a 24" tall, 26" wide plant! I also have designed a bucket that sits on a plastic, stackable storage drawer set. Drilled holes in top so that the airpots runoff can leak right through the top into the drawer. I save the runoff from the drawer and feed again later the same day. So, more like active hydro instead of passive, but I am the only "active part of this system. I have the extra time, and love to spend it in my grow. I will try to post pics with this shitty computer cam later. Thank you again, and peace to all my brothers and sisters

Dude I cannot believe the arm sized colas you have achieved under 400w lights :clap:.

Hempy buckets aren't something I've heard of before, but it's something I'm definitely going to be looking into it with my next grow, maybe 2 pots alongside my usual setup. I particularly like the idea of combining with airpots (which I am a massive fan of) like Old Dog showed above.

Well done again, and I hope you break the scales!

Those buds will look Mighty Fine all trimmed and manicured, so the ugly leaves won't matter...LOL. Excellant grow, I'm going to flower with everything this week.
