Most of the Natural gas piped to the homes of the US is Methane (suspect this is the case around the Globe.). Occasionally the delivering Gas companies use a mixture of air and Butane to supplement their contracted quota from the Pipeline Companies.
When Hydrocarbons are burnt each Hydrogen atom is released from the Carbon and attaches themselves to another Hydrogen atom and an Oxygen atom. When there is enough free O2 in the surrounding area NO Carbon monoxide is produced. Thus the main reason for "Adequate" ventilation is to provide enough free O2. Only when a shortage of O2 is occurring is CO produced.
Also if you look at this chart you will see that Butane has the highest Carbon count, thus will produce the highest amount of CO2, but also has the highest potential for creating CO.

I don't think most people understand how expensive CO2 is. In order for it to be effective you need to have a whole lot more than just CO2.
It should be the last thing you worry about when growing. If you don't have all the kinks worked out of your style, CO2 is nothing but a waste of money.

Propane torch $20. refill $2. burns propane, puts off CO2 and water vapor
the ammount of c02 ir produces is Great untill you knock it over then the burning house makes you wonder what you were thinking

this unit is not an open flame unit the flame is protected by a steel cabinet
the negative side effect of this type of unit is heat and moisture. burning that much gas will cause a humidity spike
