Do you like likes?

People are going to leave the forum because there's no "like" button? I'm cool with that, and in fact, I'd "like" them to leave.

Like they say on the Internet: "And nothing of value was lost.."

FB is too PC. We should have a BS button. And "you're an asshole" button. But whatever. I came here to learn a few things about growing not to make a million cyberfriends.

What I don't like is the annoying orange "feedback and support" banner in the lower right hand corner that they somehow think is more important

Theres a vote for that too. What I liked about likes is you could just click on one button and sum up how you feel without rewriting shit, bring back the motherfucking likes.

Y'all can hoo and ha all you want about how lame it is to leave a site for whatever reason. Enjoy your site. I don't care at all. The fact of the matter is, I'm leaving the site because of a lack of administrative acknowledgment of the general crowd. They speak volumes by taking away a feature that was being used so heavily before it was removed. I'm reading between the lines, even if you want to criticize the surface of the situation.

I've already found another (much more active, and much more stable/responsive) website to substitute. The user base here is QUALITY. And I am sad to leave you all behind, but I also acknowledge that user bases are NOT limited to ONE site and I will find cool people wherever I go, because that's just HOW I ROLL.

Since I didn't get banned for speaking my opinion, I consider that a +1 for rollitup's team. So I might come drop in occasionally and see how the site is doing as far as being able to stay up for more than 6 hours at a time and whether or not the features I 'like' are re-instated. I invested 450 posts in this place over the course of four months, so I do feel a little obligated to at least check in.

But, Cheers. I'll be at thcfarmer.

Sorry you all felt the need to criticize me for standing up for my beliefs. Perhaps if you looked at the depth of the situation a little closer you will discover that there is more to it than just losing a like button. It has to do with whether or not the administration is responsive to the preferences/natural gravitations of it's own userbase. Taking away a feature that is used 1000+ times a day seems pretty irresponsible and unacknowledging to me. I was curious as to whether or not this would have any impact beyond a bunch of people making fun of me. Surprise surprise, no impact yet.

LIKE

I also don't like that CloudFlare caches the page for when the site is down as if that is somehow helpful when you can't add a post or even see uncached pages that you try to browse. I'm sorry, I get that it might seem better to have SOMETHING up than NOTHING, but honestly, I found it frustrating and unhelpful. Seems like a waste of money.

gl at thcfarmer AN. Never been there myself (well, maybe once but never joined). Anyway, I have heard anecdotes about them, and not good ones.

Bye bye AN :)

I am however failing to connect the removal of the like button with an increase in intelligent posts.

Oh, I just wanted to add:

The forum I have moved to doesn't even have a LIKE button.

So go ahead and tell me how superficial I am. I didn't change home bases because I 'need a like button'. I changed sites because I don't like administrators who TAKE AWAY FEATURES THAT ARE BEING USED REGULARLY BY THE ENTIRE USER BASE.

We'll see. I just got a private invite on this forum for yet another site, so I might end up there instead. I'm giving THCFamer a chance, though. Have you seen how many posts and users that place has? It's HUGE.

Then my job here is done.

You guys may have thought I was making too big a deal, but I don't really care what anyone thinks. I speak for what I believe is right, and it seems to have had an effect as far as I can tell. Or maybe my opinion doesn't matter at all and it's just a coincidence that the likes are back. Yep, that must be it.

You're leaving a marijuana growing forum because of the loss of a social networking function? :) Facebook and Friendster are always an option. ;)
For the record, cryptkeeper, I am not in a legal state and therefore do not have any interest in connecting the networking of this site with my facebook account. I have plenty of friends on Facebook, but I utilize sites like this because they give me an outlet for sociality and expression of things that I would not feel comfortable sharing on Facebook, such as pictures of grows.

Ever taken the second to consider that the admin were overhauling parts of the forum and as such the feature may have been disabled until it could be activated again so to speak. Maybe they should have just kept the forum down completely until it had all been sorted out to your liking. There are two sides to every story.

Bing-a-rino. In the X-ring. I like many of the people I have come to know on this forum, and the Like feature gives me a tool for expression. Especially in the Cafe area. cn

Ever think that if the administration said two words to us we'd have an idea what is going on? No warnings about the site going down if it IS planned? That's a fail. No acknowledgment of complaints or any sort of PR whatsoever regarding what people saying? That's another fail.

There are certainly two sides to every story, and I'd be all ears, IF the other side bothered to present itself at all.
