I thought this thread was about the like button?
Nobody is making you stay here.
Nobody is making you stay here.
Also, you're basically saying that they should keep the site down until it's fully operable and ready to go back up? OH SHIT, WHAT A GENIUS IDEA.Ever taken the second to consider that the admin were overhauling parts of the forum and as such the feature may have been disabled until it could be activated again so to speak. Maybe they should have just kept the forum down completely until it had all been sorted out to your liking. There are two sides to every story.
What are you talking about dude? I'm responding to the statements you've made.I thought this thread was about the like button?

Howdy Stranger! ~giggle~ cnWhat's uuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuup? LLLLLLLOOOOOOOOLLLLLLLLLLL
The site was perfectly ready to come back up if the like button warrants a site unusable to you let alone essential, then i'd suggest some helpNo, I picked up on your blatant sarcasm, and chose to ignore it in hopes that you would realize that it was unnecessary because the statement you made is actually sound. a site SHOULD be left down until it is ready come back up.
And I'm sorry if you feel I'm off topic now. I didn't know that wasn't allowed. Are you picking up on MY sarcasm yet? I thought this was an open-minded place where people could express their opinions, even if it deviated from the initially stated topic.
i know you are being passionate and all AN but i personally don't see where whomever it is that owns this site owes me anything. maybe that's just me, but i am thankful to have been here and learned the things i have about growing. i didn't know it was a social website per se. it's cool to be able to talk to each other but really what do they owe us? i have had corp networks for fortune 500 companies go down for much longer and less notice then this. and thats a place making tons of money.Ever think that if the administration said two words to us we'd have an idea what is going on? No warnings about the site going down if it IS planned? That's a fail. No acknowledgment of complaints or any sort of PR whatsoever regarding what people saying? That's another fail.
There are certainly two sides to every story, and I'd be all ears, IF the other side bothered to present itself at all.
Well said, sunnyboy. I like your respectful approach to conversation. Kudos. You have illustrated the TRUE 'other side' of the coin quite well, and you've done so without resorting to personalisms. Nothing is owed, you are right. But free speech is free speech, and I can express myself how I like. The truth of the matter is, I am spoiled by OTHER sites that I frequent regularly that are equally privately owned but have shown better interaction between the administration and the users.i know you are being passionate and all AN but i personally don't see where whomever it is that owns this site owes me anything. maybe that's just me, but i am thankful to have been here and learned the things i have about growing. i didn't know it was a social website per se. it's cool to be able to talk to each other but really what do they owe us? i have had corp networks for fortune 500 companies go down for much longer and less notice then this. and thats a place making tons of money.
And so you've also taken time to consider that the site has just been hacked? And that maybe the admin are a little bit busy keeping folk off your details to keep you updated. That's just like, well, your opinion, man.
In my opinion, if a site cannot stay on the air consistently for several days in a row, it's no where near ready to be up. But I guess we have different opinions, and I will leave you to yours now.
mysunnyboy, imo it's like this. What draws visitors to RIU is when threads of interest appear on their Google. Those threads were made by posters. We who write in the fora generate almost the entire value of this site. Granted, we play here for free, but it would be nice to have admin treat us like valued contributors and keep us informed. It's about "permitted" and "recommended".i know you are being passionate and all AN but i personally don't see where whomever it is that owns this site owes me anything. maybe that's just me, but i am thankful to have been here and learned the things i have about growing. i didn't know it was a social website per se. it's cool to be able to talk to each other but really what do they owe us? i have had corp networks for fortune 500 companies go down for much longer and less notice then this. and thats a place making tons of money.
Pot, meet kettle. Both, black. Hypocracy is a circular road. You are so awfully quick to throw anger around based on a lack of any understanding of the situation.
So well said. Thanks CN.mysunnyboy, imo it's like this. What draws visitors to RIU is when threads of interest appear on their Google. Those threads were made by posters. The site owners/admins are certainly permitted to treat the forum posters like something annoying stuck to a shoe, but it isn't recommended. cn
You can do all those things without using the like function and people have done it for over a decade now. Still do.For the record, cryptkeeper, I am not in a legal state and therefore do not have any interest in connecting the networking of this site with my facebook account. I have plenty of friends on Facebook, but I utilize sites like this because they give me an outlet for sociality and expression of things that I would not feel comfortable sharing on Facebook, such as pictures of grows.
Hopefully with the absence of Likes, the intelligent people will respond expanding upon the topic at hand in a constructive manner.
I miss them as much as you Shan-Shan, but in the wake of all this downtime, I doubt the function will be reinstated. I'm attempting to dwell on the positives for now...
