Getting back on topic, what I meant was, my best producing strain. That's my "horse"
The mother of the genetic line came from a seedling that took an absolute, borderline inhumane ass beating during the early stages of life, and survived.
That's refreshing to hear

There are two type of growth. Immature growth, which is expressed as opposite leaves on the stem. That is, each node has 2 leaves (sometimes three). And mature growth which is expressed as alternating leaves, as in, one node one leave. Showing sex, and sexual maturity are two different things. Once you start seeing alternating growth the plant is sexually mature and ready for flowering. During mature growth the plant may or may not be showing which sex it is depending on a whole host of factors. So to answer your question. Sexual maturity is a function of age. If you root out a 3 node cutting from mature (alternating leaves) mother and put it next to a 3 node seedling the same size under 12/12, the cutting is going to flower way faster. Because the tissue in the cutting is older.

I can say for sure that size has nothing to do with sexual maturity.

Don't let my "newbie" status equate to lack of experience. As a Humbolt grower back in in the 80's and before feminized seeds I have had to determine the sex of many thousands of plants.

Neither....Sex is shown by hours of light. Small plant tall plant big plant small plant big plant old plant young plant. They all begin to bud when the hours of light are decreased. Also you can't get more Females from air temperature being low. There either male or female from the start of seed.lol
Yes and No...

I can pick males out of 1ft tall plants (each group the same strain) - while in veg..... 98-99% of time correctly... That makes a ratio of 1-2 out of 100 plants I say are male. End up female. This has proven it's self out over the 4.6 decades of working this plant....

You do it that long, and I guarantee you could too...

The rest I could argue also....BUT, I find I have nicely better then a 1:1 sex ratio in warmer and more humid environments then from popping and starting, in a cold one!
This is also on a very regular basis.
Sometimes science say one thing.......and another can happen.... I don't record the sex results by number any more so, The idea of it balancing over time? Seems to favor my point by memory.

One thing to remember? Store seeds properly and use a "cold time" before warming to room temp and popping.

I can pick seeds that are female. Give me 50 or so seeds a I can pick 10 or more all female seeds. Female seeds have a perfectly round indentation where the stem was attached. Not saying that won't be more females that are out of round or oval. But I've never had a perfectly round attachment be male. That's worked for my outdoor crops for 5 years since I learned it. Try it if you don't believe. Next time you grow from seed mark the ones with round attachment holes. They will be female.

Correct. Tho I have had strains that took about 8 weeks
I have three plants outside its been since may and they are finally showing their sex. All females. Took a really long time and some cooler temperatures at night and DAYLIGHT hour to diminish to finally show some pistols. I had posted pic of these girls a month ago and nobody had an answer lol.

I provided a batch of 20 seeds to another grower who claims he can tell the sex of seeds. He picked out seven seeds that he garaunteed were males....

Hogwash.

What he didn't know, is that I had provided 20 of my homemade FEM seeds.
Just to prove a point.

How did you make your homemade FEM? You used a plant that Hermed which seeded itself and the plants around it. Could have been herms. I already said not all females have round attachments. Didn't say you could find the males. So out of 50 10 or less may be round but a lot more not. Just is a way I find for sure female seeds. TRY IT!!

Bet you all check them now.lol

I belive that was proven to be hogwash a few times over the years.
Great scam though, just use all fem seeds and look like a wizard. "Look at me I picked out all females". Guy claimed he could do it on a GLM show and didn't come back to back it up as the seeds were being provided to him. It may of even been a stoner myth back in the day due to vast amounts of bag seeds having hermi traits..

Plants show sex from age. You can have a plant on 24/7 light schedule and it will show pre flowers. Structure gives them away early to, the longer lankier ones with not much branching are normally males. Plants are sexually mature when they have alternate branching regardless of light cycle.

Not true. althor is right. Take mother plants for instance they stay vegged 24/7. I know guys that have mothers that are 8 years old and never shown. If you keep a plant in veg light cycle it will stay vegged.

It's all about the light cycle
If its a mother then its showing sex. Yes it will stay in the veg state but its a female.
