Does flushing really make a difference? Help

This is the CBG synthesis pathway (image lifted from wikipedia), CBG is the precursor to THC

See the sulfur? Sulfur is immobile, has to come up from the roots through the xylem. Immobile elements cannot be moved once deposited in tissue.

That is just one of many chemical pathways in Cannabis. You have to keep immobile elements available in the root zone for the plant to carry out its complex web of metabolic processes, the ones that make THC, terpenes, and everything else.

That doesn't mean you have to apply fertilizer that will never be used. Obviously, the situation is different for amended soil compared to hydro. However, there is no good evidence that deliberately depriving Cannabis of fertilizer helps at all. I would love to see some, but it is not forthcoming.

Thanks observe&report for that reply. And i will respectfully disagree but i also believe that a flush all through out your grow is important i see it as a fasting for your plant. As for hydro and soil i dont believe that they are that different in terms of nute uptake. If one person was growing in hydro and the other in soil when the plant knows that its comming to the end they automatically stop taking up nutes regardless of what medium they are in. And they use the nutes the same way regardless of medium as well. I do believe soil has advantages over hydro though as for how it can take up nutes. With all this said i see flushing in hydro as a fourm of lst to help produce better flower. Now granted i have no scientific proof but then again i believe that scientists dont want to venture to far from what they think they already know.

It doesn't not near the end from my belief anyways. Just a way of saving nutes. But during the grow i think that it forces the plant to use excess nutrients or not hold as much in its reserves (more so in soil with mycelium) i think it just helps with all around healh of the plant.

Flush or not, do what works best for you. Best thing for your plant near harvest would be to leech the nutrients off the leaves, you don't need to flush to make this happen just make sure your plant isn't getting more nutes than it takes in at a certain point in flower. You want it to start using up the rest of the nutes it has while still having enough in it to survive before harvest for a cleaner better tasting smoke. 3 week slow nute decrease before harvest is ideal

PPM meter is key for a clean harvest without any 'flushing' needed. check your runoff buds.

Flushing is to get the excess sodium built up in your soil which will lead to nutrient deficiencies.. if you use a full line of nutrients you should flush every 4 weeks for vegetative stage and every three for flowering stage.. most people dont use a full line so there is no need to flush but for the last week of flowering... you can use a flushing product to start the flush or just water unless your using a full line of nutrients then you'll need to use a product like foxfarm sledgehammer... I for one use the complete line of foxfarm.. I use everything but flower kiss in foxfarm dirty dozen kit on top of foxfarm wholly mackerel and foxfarm kelp me kelp you.. I follow the foxfarm feeding schedule for soil as well as use foxfarm ocean forest soil...

Do your nutes contain sodium?

4 nugs, 20 grams haha. yeah i miss that harvest..

Never flushed, used small amounts of nutes every water with a peatmoss and perlite medium with about 5-15% runoff. Properly grown bud like this is smooth and has white ash from the day its dried enough to be put in the jar, and the taste when smoking this strain above.. Oh man.. Lemonade,..

I may not be that experienced in growing but when i don't ever remember a time i bought weed and could hold 4 nugs that weighed 20 grams in my hand... I've bought a lot of weed..

Those nugs were rock hard if you guys were wondering, i think she flowered for 11-12 weeks before harvest. Not much amber at all, it just took a lot longer than expected.
