The top feed makes a differnce because no matter the return line configuration water will self level ....as long as its not.beings sucked out faster then it can drain

It will to a point. My tub's water level was an inch or two different from front to back.

Whats your pump size?
Inlet line size
Return line size

Is yours top feed or undercurrent?

I found it happens more with undercurrent setups then top feed

all right guys. i have a prototype up and running. what do you think? is this enough waterfall?

ignore the floating plastic crumbs, i was in too much of a rush to see this thing operating to clean it up first, lol...

It was too fast lol

Looks and sound ok

Just try to play with it if they arent even (the in feed)

Take some still shots it looked good from what i saw lol

50-60 gallon system with 500 gph pump. one tote didn't get the flow of the other three. will see what i can do to tweak it.

need to harvest now, clear a tent out and glue this sucker up.

Change your plumbing just a tiny bit like this

And youll get even flow

Remember the pipes need to level with water before they spillover

Get a few more 90s and add something like this

Then just make sure your manifold is reasonable level and you will get even flow

There are just too many axis's to try and level out to get it even without a fill and spill

But it looks like it will kill it when your done

Mine feeds into the top and returns underneath. I know exactly why my tubs aren't exactly even and I also know it doesn't make any difference.

Looks fine!

I would have suggested the use of flexible tubing instead of PVC for the topfeed lines, and the use of 1/2" tee fittings to introduce just enough restriction to ensure even flow. I would also have stopped the water nearer the center of the tub instead of a corner.

These are quibbles and I think it will work fine.

will have to pick up more 90's to create the fill and spill effect. will do so soon. harvesting plants tonight.

Correct. It isn't worth the trouble to fix it. Next time I rebuild it- VERY easy to do with flexible hose and barbed fittings- I'll configure it to correct for the issue.

But i like to keep plant support and plant life support seperate ymmv

But i like the idea and if you plull it off sweet !

Did the spill over help with flow?

I like to keep my system plumbing as simple as possible .

Your fill and spill doesn't need to be that high (i know you where combining ideas)

lol, it is too high, but i might try it. once its all glued together it might just work, lol

I wouldnt glue any of the feed lines pressure fit will be fine

(trust me that will be a bitch to clean if you can break it down )

that's probably the correct thing to do. with that said, i will not be using the PVC in the above manner for tying off plants. too risky. will use trellis or something else, until i tire of it and give up and got back to larger net pots and hydroton, lol
