Drop of dishsoap in water cure for bugs? any comments?

hey guys

got a couple plants going outdoors and 2 are having some real bad bug issues.

I asked around and got a cheap solution if it works. they said to add a drop of dishwater in
some water and spray it on the plants once in a while and that would resolve the issue.
I apologize i didnt take any pics of the plants in question. i will if necessary but im more
asking about the method.

has anyone done the dishsoap method. any other cheap methods youve tested and worked?

Hi ambadexteras,
In years gone by,when nothing was wasted,the dirty dishwater went over the garden plants to keep bugs off.
So your theory is fine,but it will only be like a repellant,as the strength of dishwater needed to kill the bugs would probably burn your plants.
Chilli peppers soaked in water and sprayed on is arepellant for some bugs.Cinnamon and garlic can also be used like this.
You can get gentle soap which is plant derived that wnt harm your plants,you can mix this with Neem Oil and spray on.
This eventually kills the bugs,but costs money.
Ive tested the soapy water and cinnamon,the fungus gnats ive got dnt like it,so might vacate an outside plant for one that hasnt been sprayed.
I would if i was a bug. There are sites devoted to knocking off bugs,they tell you exactly how to make the stuff.

I use a drop of Dawn in every gallon of water to make the water wetter so it spreads among the roots better. BigSteve.

so i think ill try the dishsoap first. and then my next course of action will be the garlic thing.
bugs dont strike me as big garlic fans lol.

Chop the garlic up and soak overnight.Put a few drops of washing up liquid(gentle soap is best)in your mixture,this helps it stick to the leaves.
Dont overdo the washing up liquid,maybe half a teaspoon in a litre.That shudnt harm yer plants,do a test run on a nettle or something.

Heres a picture of the PLant that was most affected. also a picture of another plant with some slight bug damage next to my bottle of
homeade BUG BE GONE lol ingredients. Water, drop of dove dish soap, liquid from a minced garlic jar. its gonna sit and ill spray em tommoro
and keep this thread posted on the results. fingers crossed

the 2nd pic doesnt even look worth saving lol. but thats cuz its mad wet from a down pour we just had so its drooping.
and had alot of bug bites on it. i think once i spray her and she gets some sun shell perk up.

I had a problem with bugs and powdery mildew, and i simply made a solution of 1 part milk 8 parts water, and a tsp of dish soap per gallon, and i misted this heavily over the plant and it fixed up all the bugs and powder mildew, i highly suggest this method. :)

cool buklau thanks for the input, first person to mention milk... will prolly smell better than Garlic ! lol
anyone else ever used milk? im going for highest voted here. i already have a batch of the litre of water,
drop of dish soap, and garlic juiice in the water. gonna give that a try and see how it works over a week or two.
and than i will tackle it with a dairy approach ;) lol

Im fairly new to growing cannabis,but in my research i learned not to use any dairy products.
We all know that milk is not a pesticide or an insect repellant,it is a fungicide though,it gets rid of powdery
mildew,hence baklaus success.
Milk will go bad very quickly,and attract more bugs,then you have to wash it off your plant into your soil.
IMO milk is not a good thing to spray on your cannabis.
motherearthnews.com This site will tell you that milk can be used to cultivate Baccillus Thuringiensis Berlin,
which is a bacteria that kills larvae of pests,but the bacteria has to be introduced to the milk from bugs that
have died from ingesting the bacteria in the first place.
Im afraid thats the only use for milk in pesticides.
Just my opinion

dish soap is used as a spreader when using pesticides....you add it to get even leaf coverage instead on the water beading up on the leaves

Soak cigarettes in water over 24 hours. Add a drop of soap for the coverage (as per colonuggs comment), and mix in some vegetable oil as well (also helps to stick the mix to the leaves). Garlic and chilli in the mix are great as well. For PM you can use baking soda mixed with vegetable oil. I had fungis growing on a branch of an outdoor and treated it with papertowels soaked in milk and that kept the fungus at bay so that I could finish the grow....the whole branch was literally rotting.
Some prays will kill or deter bugs, some sprays you need actual contact with the bug to kill it. So try and get the spray on the top and bottom of the leaves (and do not spray in direct sunlight (in the morning, or end of the day).

Isnt nicotine poisonous to cannabis?I had a few seedlings die coz of smoking in the same room i was
propogating them.Ive read of this remedy but never used it to try to get rid of my fungus gnats,for fear of
repeating my earlier fuck ups with nicotine.It might only affect young plants,i dnt know.Have you used it yourself

I am using Gnat Off and Neem Oil to try to rid my tent of gnats,they are getting less but not completely gone yet.

no milk...at least for now... until i have an issue with mold.
