Drug test for welfare

Why on earth is this not in place already? welfare, unemployment benifits, social security, food stamps. Drug tests for any government benifits. I knew this dude that took his food stamp card, bought a bunch of cases of cheap soda, had his kids pour it out in the parking lot, cashed the cans in for deposit, bought smokes, 40's and ordered a dime bag.

i used to buy food stamps 50% off crackheads! <3'd that shit. was eating from whole foods everyday.

How would you like it i they tested you before you got any of your countries social programs??

Maybe people should be tested before checking out a library book? How about a quick test before the fire department comes to you house to put out the fire? Should we drug test the country we are about to invade just to be sure that we are not bring demockracy to drug addicts or suppliers?

Don't be afraid of helping people in need, it's good for you and good for the country.

checking for drugs for ppl on welfare is dumb... it's going to cost more to test ppl than it will save... and anyone that works in govt. should undergo the same treatment anyone recieving tax payers dollars should have to drug test... that's what this argument is all about. I've paid into the system since I was 15 weather I do drugs or not I'm entitled to this money if needed. stay high

If you want to drug test go after the people that work in the Government from the Pres. to the soldier that guards the front gate.
The politicians are the ones that make the laws we have to live with, the police that enforce the laws too piss test them and do them like they do us..

I wouldn't be opposed except that it would likely cost us more than it would save. If you need the government to pay your bills then you shouldn't have enough surplus to spend on luxuries like drugs. But IMO you shouldn't be able to have a smart phone nor cable TV and collect either. "Help I can't pay rent/feed my kids but I have a $300/month TV bill, $120/month cell phone bill, and $500 a month electric bill because I grow pot - thank the lord for the CARE program otherwise it would be $2000/month."

*Most everyone that works for the government is drug tested, the vast majority. Those up at the top that are getting their jobs done aren't - but they have jobs - actually all people that work for the government have jobs...

I'm pointing out how absurd it is to bring up testing government workers when talking about people receiving government money for not working.

Bit over your head, sorry. Government workers aren't receiving government "handouts" when they are being paid.

Government workers aren't receiving government "handouts" when they are being paid.

.

Handouts are not the same as being reimbursed for your time. For instance if the government contracts with the company you work for you are recieving tax dollars... that's not the same as receiving handouts.

so if I pay taxes for years on end and then have the sudden need for welfare am I not paying myself... it is tax payers money right??? and govt is getting a handout from the taxpayers they aren't just pulling money out of their asses to pay themselves... are they? stay high

That might quite possibly the biggest retard in your state.. he could have just sold his stamps for 50 cents on the dollar..bought a case of beer and an ounce..and unemployment bennies are for those you paid in..no handout..do you have any idea how much it costs to drug test all those people? and on a reg basis....how bout drug testing the farmers who receive subsidies and ceos who get corporate welfare and their employees?

If you are on welfare you are having an economic crisis right? If you are having an economic crisis you should cut back on spending right? To cut back on spending you get rid of luxuries right? Are drugs luxuries? Are they expensive luxuries? Are they habit forming luxuries?

Now think about the people who are habitually on welfare. Are they the type that have contributed lots of taxes? Are they only receiving back the amount they contributed? What about the type of people that use drugs and are habitually on welfare? That would prefer to use drugs and lose welfare than to go sober for a few months. There are government sponsored rehab programs...

I'm not refuting anyone's rights to welfare but if you can afford drugs then you have a surplus of money as drugs are not necessary for survival for the typical person.
