Yes! I'm always open to suggestions and help. Happy New Year!im confused....are you asking for suggestions...cause i want to help haha stay medicated and HAPPY HOLIDAYS!!!!
Duh - I missed an obvious option for additional cooling. While I won't use this method, I thought I should mention it: Increase the intake and exhaust rate CFM's. Currently, with the pressure balanced on the 6" exhaust to match the intake of the 4", I am doing an air exchange about once every 60 - 75 seconds. I might be able to keep up with the cooling needs of the Adjust-a-Wings by doing a complete air exchange 3 times a minute. Let's see... if the tents are about 90 cu ft each, I would need an intake fan of about 600CFM plus the overhead caused by ducting, filters, etc. That calls for an 8" fan for intake, and I would need to balance that with another 8" exhaust fan. Hmmm - this is a good option -- but I can't stand the thought of redoing my entire HVAC! haha Simply adding a 6" intake fan may help - as I have overhead on the exhaust fan (it is on a speed controller to balance the positive pressure produced by the intake), but I still fear it will be quite hot on all but the coolest nights. As expected, there are some issues with this setup:
- HEAT
- HUMIDITY
HEAT: The 600 watt Adjust-a-Wings run too hot for a tent this size with just fresh-air cooling. I have a few options...
- Actively cool the tents using AC.
- Run my ballasts at 75% (450w), or get lower wattage lights.
- Run sealed air-cooled hoods.
HUMIDITY: When the lights go out, humidity skyrockets (as expected). The humidity setpoint is triggered on the Sentinel and the intake/exhaust fans kick in; exhausting the humid air, but also bringing in cool, and often humid air from outside. This will not work to consistently lower humidity. This problem will be compounded with plant material. I have a few options...
- Actively dehumidify the tents using dehumidifiers.
- Install an elaborate secondary intake system using electronic dampers and more ducting to switch the intake air from outside to warmer, dryer, interior air -- and back again as needed.
- Install heaters in the tents.
I need to get the environment correct to move forward. What is the best way to handle this? I welcome input. I will let you know how I leap over these environmental hurdles in future posts.
Yeah Dick! I love input like that; and I like your suggestions... This is the first run flowering in a tent for me too!i would definitely LOVE to see a trained half scrog (pulling colas/tops up to the edge of the tent and screening them/or even just lst) and then grow the middles super cropped or topped or hell even grown straight if indica after about 2-4 weeks of veg and end up with an extended veg sog with scrog screens/lst around the edge without needed tons of plants and im sure that you could make that pop off with some 600 and turn those tents into a jungle. im thinking if you add to many plants humidty is gonna become a proplem later on and i have never tent grown but it seems like that would work. id really like to know what genetic your working with, and clone vs seed. but i am totlly pumped to see you get started and i hope you have an awesome NEW year. stay medicated.
ive seen a dude separate his tent into two parts before so it is do-able you would just have to take the time to think it out more by yourself. as for the odor control part I own a DR120 (4x4) and my carbon filter leaves no smell at allHello, I am thinking of running Stinkbuds aero/NFT setup in a tent or 2. My question is how well can you block light on one side from the other. Lets say I got a 7' long tent and wanted to turn 3.5' of it into the clone/veg area, how well could you hang something to block the light of the flowering side? Also, I really need to go stealth. How is the odor control with your setups (nice btw)?
I am very new to growing, even newer to tents. Any advice is greatly appreciated!
Cool. A Stinkbud type of setup works well in a tent because you can custom fit it to any size. If you devise a way to get the res outside of the tent - that is even better. With the res in the tent, you will have to be sure your temps are in check (need to keep res as cool as possible). I came up with my own versions of the Stinkbud machines. The best tasting boo I have ever grown came out of a Stinkbud style aero/nft unit. Going the whole way in a single 2" net cup just rocks. Aero is the best - but you need a solid environment and a good system.Hello, I am thinking of running Stinkbuds aero/NFT setup in a tent or 2.
Not very well at all! Don't try it. Tents come in all sizes - just get two tents; one dedicated for flower and one for veg. NOTE: Tents are not 100% light proof. You need to keep the lights low in the room when it is night time in the tent.My question is how well can you block light on one side from the other. Lets say I got a 7' long tent and wanted to turn 3.5' of it into the clone/veg area, how well could you hang something to block the light of the flowering side?
There is no odor control in my setup... well not really. I do exhaust out from the highest point of the house (over the heads of most), but I am not running any carbon filters, etc. on the way out. I am relying upon the local vegetation to mask the smell; that and a kind wind...Also, I really need to go stealth. How is the odor control with your setups (nice btw)?
Have fun with it! The crew on the SB thread and website can likely answer all questions you have with the Stink setup and maintenance. There are several tent growers there too. This is my first run using a tent to flower, but I have veg'd in them for years, and have seen many a friend get through a tented harvest successfully. You will too!I am very new to growing, even newer to tents. Any advice is greatly appreciated!
Hey Lt. Dan. So you have a couple DR120P's? Nice - how are they workin' for ya? Yeah - it took me a few tries to locate a second DR150W.Howdy!
Very interested in this one, also!
I had just got a DR120P and had on order a DR120W..... They discontinued the W model, so I got another P model.
Cheers,
I only have one set up at the moment.... as slow as I am, I might get the other set up by next Christmas, lol....... or maybe by next weekHey Lt. Dan. So you have a couple DR120P's? Nice - how are they workin' for ya? Yeah - it took me a few tries to locate a second DR150W.
Thanks for asking. I had a little delay, cause I love a good deal!Any updates man??
Thanks. I checked your setup too. Nice. I like what your doing with that OG; the rockwool and the trellis. I see you've grown the Geezy before! Is that the actual Secret Jardin trellis accessory? I like it. I'm going to use Botanicare trellis.awesome bro good luck + rep
