Dwc poor flavor help

we just did a 6x6 scrog, got 19 oz dry weight. did a 20 day flush all leave were yellow and fall colors.
tga querkle was the strain, normally very earthy tasting. just tastes bad compared to the pro mix grow prior.
any where from 550ppm to 675 ppm on nutes. 6.8 ph and used GH flora series same as the pro mix grow.
only difference was no molasses. since i read it could cause root rot "pythium" in dwc.


so is my problem no sugars/carbs towards the end?
any clue why it would taste so different? thank for reading Odyssey grower.

Maybe because you starved it of food for 20 days? Just guessing.

Why did you have the pH at 6.8?

cuase thats what the tap water is, just got a ph meter. I know 5.8-6.0 is ideal so the next one will be ph'd down.

naw started the flush week7 till the leave were yellow and flushed ,buds look great and super frosty. 40ish % amber, also made some killer bubble hash super tasty. wich is why i dont understand the bud not as tasty

just seeing if anyone knows what the problem is. i would like to stay dwc, but if i cant figure the flavor problems out. i'm going back to soil.

Most of the time the flavor issues is how you dry/cure.

Organics are said to taste better. Having said that you used synthetic nutrients in both promix and dwc so thats not the answer.

thats why im thinking it is a sugar/carb problem. is it ok to use molasses in dwc? or is their some kind on hydro carboloads for end flushing?
I would like to figure this out, the next one is two weeks in flower already.

I don't use any sugar/carbs and my buds taste fine. I also don't flush, usually anyways, this grow I am to prove a friend wrong.

Im sure there are carbos/sugar products for hydro. I think Botanicare makes a "sweet" product. Im skeptical of it adding awesome fruity flavors to your end product.

And no molasses is not OK to use in DWC. You can, but it is not recommended.

How do you dry your buds? Or are you avoiding that question because you dried the promix and dwc buds the same way?

I aim for at least a 7 day slow dry. I try and go for 10 days.

I just take all the big fan leaves off, cut the plant at its base and hang it upside down in a room thats 55%RH.

Tastes great right away, tastes even better after some time in the jar curing. Mines on like day 50 cure and it just keeps getting better.

hmm no flush.. kinda scares me, maybe i will do a 10 day flush this time after week 8.

yeah i cure the same, its been a month now. so we tried some and were disapointed in the taste.

That flushing doesnt do a damn. Clones of same mother. Blind study.

Y is that most growers I know use molasses in their teas

did u flush ever 6-7 days ?? i find people that just top up the dwc have some strong chemical funky tasting buds ?? also did u drop the ml rate by 1 ?

I can say that I have a certain pheno of blue power I've run in soil, coco, and hydro. It's extremely dank smelling and tasting, no filter yet can keep up. Anyway, I ran Lucas formula in rdwc and fed all the way through at like 1300ppm area. Maybe last couple days it was fresh ro, ph'd water. I didn't really flush because at the time the consensus of what I was reading was saying don't flush. I've seen the flavor products at the shop, and the guys preach about lack of flavor in hydro, but the batch I ran with the lucas formula only (GH micro, bloom, calmag, hydroguard) came out just as good as any previous grow of the same pheno in different mediums. Current chatter would lend support to your issue, but my personal experience is that the taste and smell was unaffected in a rdwc system vs soil or coco. If you can rub the stem during veg and get a nice stinky/end smell/flavor, that's a keeper strain. The good ones are dank in veg, flower, and cure. They can't help themselves.

Its a food stock for microbes when brewing an aact in organic gardens. you don't want to use to much molasses as you want to multiple the microbes. The sugar helps/makes them reproduce. Then you use as soil drench which in turn inoculates the soil with microbes to help eat the ammendments to provide food for the plants

because im not using bennies, mine are synthetic nutes. meaning it will cuase problems since i dont have organic bennies living in my system " i think". I'm new to dwc, but would like to think i did my fair share of research.

No what hes saying is people use those in organic soils to synthesize the organic matter into food the plant can use.

Beneficials are still useful with synthetic nutrients. They act by competing for food sources with the bad stuff.
