DWC Root Slime Cure aka How to Breed Beneficial Microbes

Does anyone know the proper mixture to make the tea if your using great white as you bennies? I am running a current culture undercurrent setup so it requires less nutrien change out and flushes. Since I onoy change water monthly I want to use as littpe as possible to avoid the tea slime that eventually arises when you use to much. I want to use as little as possible while still being effective. I am working with great white , ancient forest and molasses. I should have already had the tea made but completely forgot and am now crunched for time. Im thinking about a small dose of hydrogen peroxide 35% to ward of the slime until my tea is ready. I just finished the colloidal silver flush and scrubbed out the system. By the way if you saw my post earlier on this thread, the colloidal silver worked and made the plant grow like nothing ive ever seen before. Even with a horrible brown slime problem worse than any Ive seen before, the pants I had to run the silver through are twice as big as the auto flowers that were started on the same day in an uninfected system. If the plants dont hermie I will start running colloidal early on in all my veg cycles. I was told by a pro that as long as I stay under seven days id be fine. I only ran it 3.
I put quarter (or a bit less) of a spoon of great white, handfull of EWC, 6,5 g of sugar and 2,5L of water and brew at 23-25 C for 24 hours. I take half a cup of the tea, mix in half a teaspoon of ZHO and pour that directly on the roots.

Mycos are the bennies, atleast thats what I think. Pretty new to dwc and bennies. Only been in soil before and have never needed them. Spanky, unfortunately my local shop doesn't have zho powder. They didnt have mycogrow either which is why I went with the great white. It had all of the mycos that Heisenberg listed so thats what I bought. They only carry the good/expensive shit. Worth it though because high price comes with good advice.Do you run undercurrent? If so how much tea do you give them to avoid buildup of bennie slime? Since res change is onpy recommended monthly ( i top off with quarter tp half strength nutes based on ppm) Id hate to get a beneficial slime problem which happens when they build up in your system. I think Heisenbergs post is more for smaller less advanced systems that would be cleared out weekly or bi weekly.

Id change my system more often but its 210 gallons amd thats alot to flush weekly. Kinda wish I had went with the 8 gallon buckets instead of 13. Itll be worth it in the end but its a giant pain to flush. The next undercurrent I build will be 8 gallon buckets with 2 inch pve instead of 13 gallon buckets and 3 inch pvc. Bigger is better as long as no problems arise.

The reason zho powder is used is for its mycos. Can be switched with any supplements with myco fungi according to Heisenberg. Great white has that and baccilus bacteria. So no worries on them competing

From what I understood, some of the mycos need roots close by when they develop, so when brewing they will either remain dormant, hatch and die or get eaten by other organisms. Therefore, it's best to add mycos at the end. I'm using great white, but because of that I also mix in ZHO just before I pour the stuff over my roots.

Good call spanky. Your are completely right. I have been up for 36 hours straight scrubbing out my system completely ( filling then refilling and scrubbing over and over until there was absolutely no residual shit in there) and I forgot to mention that. I was gonna brew it with th great white then add another small amount of the great whiteright before i add the tea to the system. Thats why Im so affraid to put in too much.

P.S. just wanna say thanks to Heisenberg and everyone who kept this link alive. It has been very helpful to a dwc noob like myself. RIU fucking rules.

Cheers spanky, that was my thinking to perhaps brew separetly or add last 12hrs, wasn't sure after seeing so many recipes where it's all added in together..i now know that its a useless step..yes it is true that the mycos only become active on contact with root zone..
Here in Australia, we can't order overseas mycorhizal products into the country..i have found good sources here with high spore counts, but its pricey of course..
tried empathy product of ebay but found it to be granulated and not really practical...
@randomavatar
Try do some reading on mycorihizal FUNGI, they are not "bennies"at all and should be treated differently..they appear to be used to great success in agricultural applications...

Off topic, sorry. I am finally able to roll a joint. Not sure what that means ( not much of an internet person, dont even have Facebook) but I feel oddly excited

Scroga, are you sure you couldn't try geting some mycos from abroad and act suprised if they actually searched your package and found them? They probably open every 1 in 1000 letters...

Pretty sure fungi.com don't post to oz.. Thats the cheap mycogrow soluble..prices in oz start at about 30 bucks..so it would have to be under that price some what

Is there a carb additive made that can be used with tea in the last 3 weeks of flowering that wont promote the bad slime. I'd like to increase the terpines, flavenoids and aromatic aroma's

Thanks

From what I've seen..if you've only got 3 weeks left, you should have quite a large root mass, you would be pretty unlucky to get slime start on such an established plant..

Do I really need to add mycogrow or ZHO in the tea? Like Spanky pointed out, mycorrhizal fungi would only germinate upon contact with roots. What about Trichoderma? I don't think it needs roots but pretty certain it won't multiply in the tea. And how long does it take Trichoderma spores to germinate and how long it lasts? If the tea is only going to multiply the bennies, can I just throw in EWC? But then how can I apply fungi in DWC?
