Nice mass and some of the browning is from nutes and age said:
Thanks heis, and I think you are right on with this diagnosis. I been using the same airstones far to long, plus I think Im running to big of a manifold for my pump. Went and bought a new pump and ditched the stones all together. Thanks again man, you dont know this but you have been saving my ass this whole grow.

Between the tea, more oxygen, and water coolers I think I might finally be able to get these single buckets dialed in, Thank you sir, and everyone else who was part of this thread.

sry I missed it, but could some one point me to the post # that explains the schedule for this in detail. It says to add a cup of tea per gallon. Is this cup part of your nute solution or do you just run the tea by itself?id be interested in keeping this as a preventative as well if I can just mix it all together.

I have just the 1 modded waterfarm w/2 stones using the regular GH 3 part on the simple schedule with additives rapid start, floralicious plus and subculture-b.Using melted snow runoff in a filtered super clean 250 gallon collection tub with a ppm of 20 and ph of 6.8.The 2 gallon rez stays at 62-64*Im only on week 2 with a clone thats barley starting to stretch its roots in the upper bucket hydroton but no where near the rez yet and I found the bottom of my air stone covered in the the rez covered in this slime with tiny slime chunks swirling about in the rez.I try to keep the PH @ 5.5 but it drifts up to 6 pretty quick.I use "double down" by hydro organics to lower my PH and wonder if that may be an issue as I saw it come up in a post somewhere and wondered if there was a better alternative.

I just the goods and started my tea and anxious to get it working but want to be real clear.Ive read bits and pieces of this awesome post but must have just missed it.Thx in advance!

Hey Heisenberg. Getting slimed here. Sucks cause the temps are like 66F and I was running aquashield and great white throughout. Over summer I was dealing with 75-80F water and not adding anything and I was getting lucky and not having any issues, this grow and im running into first MG def. and now rot issues. Its not too thick but roots are brown and falling apart. I see new growth coming out the netpot as fuzzy white roots, but the brown is getting worse. I hope she is savable as the growth was amazing. Would these root issues be systematic?

What happened I think was I let a plant that was having issues go longer than it should have and that plant developed brown roots and the res was smelly and it affected another plant that was doing good. I chucked both those plants. Now its starting to affect this plant, I think from sharing the meter.

Roots 4 days prior to the browning. Is this the onset of brown slime?

This is the roots of the other surviving plant. This plant is still doing ok. I see foam in the res but I think thats from the tea.

Dosed them 36 hours ago with 1c per gal. My tea wasn't foamy after brewing, does this mean it didn't brew right? I ran outta air stones so I put just the air tubing in the sock, but it kept rising to the surface and making like a gurgling sound so I don't think my solution was aerated enough.

I'm going to get stones once hydro restocks and make another batch.
Hey Heisenberg, Added a cup per bucket on the 72hour mark from adding the 1c per gal.

Roots started looking better, took pictures this morning (84 hours since first dosing)

This is evidence the tea works!

Can i use this tea at the same time that i use my chemical nutrients in veg and flower? I have a small case of root rot and im still in the seedling stage, but if this works at fighting that I'd like to continue doing this tea for the full grow for protection while also adding in the recommended dosage of nutes for veg/flower

I have and do use it with nutes.

I mean if you couldnt it would be a pretty lame tea.

So heisenberg, I am still giving doses of tea, today I dosed about 2 cups worth, I know you say 1cup but im trying to beat it.

My question is why is my EC and PH dropping so rapidly?

I filled up nutes 48hours ago to .9EC and left the PH. The next morning(about 8 hours) I checked PH and set it to 5.8. At night the solution was .8EC and 6.1PH, so I set to 1.15EC and 5.8PH. Now 24 hours later(tonight) the EC is 1.03 and PH was 5.3

PH drop is only a sign of bacteria right?

I find if it goes up fast its a bacteria outbreak and if it drops fast its a die off of your bennys

about a week ago i noticed my normally stable ph(half tap half ro) @ 5.8 was dropping almost .5 a day. didnt really think cutting my great white dose in half would affect the ph like that. figured no slime, why all the great white. right? no, they were dying off before i was replacing them. a good full dose of great white and my ph is staying right in the zone 5.6 -5.8, depending on add back. Great info, plue rep.:leaf:

Sorry if this was asked. I tried to research this thread but its so fucken big that its actually hard to find.

Do I clean my bucket in between brewing batches of tea?

Thank you I will do that.

Just curious. What happens if I where to just keep mixing batches in the same one? Hypothetically speaking.

Without a quick wash and rinse some microbes will remain in the bucket. When you start a new batch these microbes will have a head start and could throw off your balance. This wouldn't be a big deal if you are preventing slime, but if you are fighting a current outbreak you will want your tea to be as diverse as possible, with no real dominating colonies.

I finally got ingredients and made some tea. EWC, ZHO, Aqua Sheild & Molasses. followed instructions for 2 1/2 gallons. Hoping to stop the start of root rot. My girl in week 6-7 flower had beige slime and was turning light green on a few fan leaves next day. DWC: 1st grow. Ph 6.0, PPM 1040. the rez was also 2.5 degrees warmer than usual. Is the slime and greening fan leaves expected? does the tea cause a thermogenic reaction? Appreciate any help. Only 3 out of 4 girls remaining. lost boss mother to root rot. 2 of the 3 remaining look like the roots are starting to get it too. Trichs are clear from what I can see in the loupe (Newbie = not sure I'm using the loupe right) would like to keep her til some amber shows. Any advise appreciated. Pictures of my grow in newbie central under "Is it Soup Yet"? Thanks for all advice.

Anyways I decided to post my experience with this so called root slime, aka pythium.

The design of the dwc setup was 5 in a square and one in the middle, all buckets were connected by 3/4" pvc piping held together with barbed tips and grommets. We had a 50 gal res connected to a 3/4"pvc pipe and eventually reduce to 1/4" float valve which was connected to a "control" bucket where the water pump was located. We had approximately 3w/1gal of water with our air pump. We had no water temperature controller due to we had the water cooled in the res in a different room and the water in the dwc buckets never reached past 69. We first developed pythium within the first week of turning the key on the setup. All 5 of our plants had caught the disease and suffered greatly. We had battled this disease for a good 6 weeks, after the 2nd week we had decided to cut our losses and attempt to learn from this. We had spent arou d 250 $ in many different nutrient/chemical/aerobic applications all of which failed. Heres a list of what we tried and results.

Dutch master gold zone,

Product was our first attempt, after 24hr of application we had seen slight improvement, plants had started to not wilt and roots on a few plants seemed to shedding the nastiest film shit. After 48hrs the plants had looked like death again and we decided to remove roots off the plants of which it was most Infected at, we applied dutch master gold zone at 2x our originally dose, left the plants to sit in a very strong application of it and some peroxide added to the mix for about 2hrs, we had then recleaned our whole system for the 2nd time. Again after 12hrs of new treatment the roots that remained had fell victim and we put dutch masters gold zone away.

Peroxide, 3% to 97%

Not going to comment much on this as nobody should take this route, all strengths had failed and pythium recovered within 12hrs.

Great white bennies

We had tried several applications of this product, we had brewed some light warrior enriched aact and added some of this for kicks, this product seemed the most effective applied with a good aact already, these bennies had fought a long hard battle but ultimately lost, the plants one day would seem to be ona road of recovery but then the next few hours they could end up looking like shit. Product was discontinued after 4 days and no promising results. We also applied orca and tarantula during certain feedings, nothing proved promising.

Orca

Exact same results as above.

Tarantula

Exact same results as orca and great white.

Plant success soluble

Applied on its own and it had no results besides pythium still being there after 5 days.

Bleach

Promising results as long as the plant had highly concentrated amounts, not recommended as this will kill all bennies In the water and is toxic at highly doses for plants. Discontinued due to product was more harm the beneficial at our late stage pythium war.

Dropping temps to 65

Pythium was still there even as we applied different products.

Alcohol

Tried some everclear cause we were buzzed and it had been the final week of the plants life, noticed slight improvement but varied at doses and this needs to be tested In a more controlled enviroment. I do not recommend any alcohol based products.

We had a few other tricks up our sleeve and Ill post them as I remember the Information, we had tried everything In the book that was accessible to us, please note I lived 140 miles from the nearest hydro store, shit was impossible to get.
Anyways after many different attempts we had convened and decided that root slime aka pythium is a force not to be reckoned with. We had bleached our system and cleaned with many different products in between every new idea, we tried many different aact's and they had proven Ineffectivw. Note some people may have cured their pythium but take It fro mme its a battle and will only be won early on. I recommend just scrapping the plants early as possible and clean the fuck outta everything, dont waste more and more money like we did, but I am happy we did cause It was the best learning experience to date.
