hey EC there has been a lot of debate on that. Skunk's thread dealt with root development and aboveground production, and the relative relartionships....he went to 500ml pots and with care and attention had very good success. His theory is that the plant roots will seek out the space more relative to the space that any other limitations of food and water. so in a sense the plant can put engery int5o root mass or into above ground production....his 500ml pots suggest that this may be a threshold....that you may not want to go smaller. I went from using 5 gal pots to 2 gal ones to one gal ones now.....I guess I will have my own experience soon....but it certainly was not done with any scientific rigor........a bud is a bud is a bud is a bud....hahahahahahaha

High again? I would pop each one out of its current home/pot and look at the root development. Only when near root bound or totally root bound do i re pot. Doing this once is usually enough to determine whether i'd give them another week or two

I have read that root bound is not an issue if sufficient nutes and water can be effectively and effciently delivered.....but again to a threshold.....btw - nice pic and amazing root system....thanks for that!

Yes tahoe58, I read it too, the thread by skunkushybrid: Root dev Vs Plant Growth. Very interesting thread. That was one of the reasons I've gone from 15L pots to 6L to see overall difference in yield without changing other variables. I may go even smaller providing I can be available to keep on top of feeding.

& Thanks.... The root mass above: BB.Cheese after 38days veggin from rooted clone. 125W cfl, Mother Earth Grow and Voodoo Juice mainly. think they are 1L pots could be half L pots. Not much attention provided, they just grew like that... currently in bloom

That is a very interesting thread. I am doing a similar experiment. I'm on my first grow and the first to show, I replanted in 2gallon pots. The next to show I didn't transplant, left them in the littlle pots (6inch accross about the same deep) to see the difference.

For me it's an experiment with space. I can fit about 8 small pots in the place of the 4 2 gallon. I'd love to be able to leave them in the small pots and flower more plants.

If you take a look at Your Grandfather's journal, notice the little pots on his BIG ass plants.

Worth a try for me.

Nice lookin roots there!!! Im not too sure if mine will just slide out like the way you describe but that would be nice!!! But worth a try, I guess it doesnt hurt the plant by looking at it right??

Ideally roots are to be kept in the dark, so with this in mind its wise not to stand around takin pics and stressin the plant. My tiny pots are very flexible which enables easy removal of their content. Your pots look liker terracotta?

yupp, terracotta indeed, next time I'll be using plastic just for the flexibility.

man they do look healthy. that three headed one looks like one i had that grew 3 main colas, niiiiiicccce

Heres a cple more pics, just got them back on the juice tnight. Gave them all a mild mixture of the flora series nutes and then back to H2o for a few more days.
