-Effective range for a 150w hps-

So i know there is an effective range, a range that a light can cover for max potential. What is it exactly for a 150 hps? curious for my growbox design, i want to do a min SOG but im not sure how tall i can get them while still getting primo buds...

u could grow mabye 2-4plants but the yeild wont be to good,, low bud to smoke,, if u were to use then just make as reflective as possible,,,

Yeah the most coverage im going to do is 17 inches by 13 inches ( the l and w of my box) but how tall could i get my plants you think while still getting primo? And i dont nececarrly think ill get "low" bud, i just have to keep them within the max intensity radius.

Na i disagree.. i think you could get a decent amount of bud if u flowered very early. As far as effective range with a 150, i would say as close a you can get light without burning them. Just a guess with an open fixture (not air cooled) 8-10 in.. Try to find a strain that has minimal foliage.. Get some Lowriders #2... fast finishing autos.. Great for setups like urs.. oh yea u can stick ur hand underneath the light and adjust the light till it stops burning ur hand.. If u air cool ur light u can damn near set that 150 right on top of the canopy.. Hope this helps....FLip

I'm tired of people talking shit about 150w HPS. I have one it works great. two plants I got 2.5 oz dry. and it was really good. One plant grew to about 5 feet tall and I had to tie it to the side and then set the light to an angle so it was parallel with the plant. I love mine not too hot and low electric bill.

People who use more wattage are just compensating for other things

Nice yeah man god work on that 2,5 zips, and yeah man, vertical growing is the way to go with the lower wattage hps for sure.

Ok i agree with you two posts up. So ill keep in mind 8-10 inches. Ill probably veg them for a month max, do some lst and get multiple buds no bigger than 12 inches each. i think i have a good idea of what i need to do now, thanks all.

flip, i dont know if your thinking range from light to plant or what im actually getting at, effective intensity range. like how far bud sites can be from a light and still be primo. Its a given that the top of my colas will be an inch away, but im wondering how far down i can go past taht.

Yea bro thats why i was sayin you should flower very early. 150 hps is not gonna get the bud on the lower level of the plant of plant vegged for a month.. I think you should read up on lolipoppin' or try some lr#2's. If you go vertical with that 150 you may be able to veg a lil longer and rotate ur plants every day... Give me a few ill show ur how a 400 hps doesnt penetrate very well on plant vegged for 30 days..

this thread on ic mag shows what a 150 can do! This should help, some of these people get crazy yields for such a small light!

Fuck yeah, did you see the verticle scrog? it was like in tough halfs of a plastic keg holder taped together. i think they ended up with 4 ounces. ITs full of stonermagyber's!
