The website I suggested has a lot of postings about your situation. I cannot give advice on this as I do not take medications and have never researched the side effects of this combination. But I encourage you to check out the website I suggested and speak to your doctor about it if you have any concerns as as well intended as posters can be, most do not have a science based background. Those that post and have a science based background often studied connected fields but lack the specific knowledge of this field. I for one am not a doctor nor a pharmacist.
That being said I can comment on the effectiveness of this and depression. I went from being in a truly depressive state to being productive almost overnight. I was deeply depressed, was prescribed medications that I had horrible reactions to (they made me extremely aggressive and increasingly angry). I stopped taking these medications as I realized these were not typical behaviors or me and scheduled an appointment to speak to a professional and learned that in rare cases these medications caused my symptoms. I was asked if I would like to try different medications and declined. After reading about magic mushrooms effectiveness treating PTSD currently I learned that pre war on drugs doctors commonly prescribed cubes to combat depression. I spoke with my doctor about it and he agreed that they showed great promise in PTSD trials and that they had indeed been prescribed in the past for depression. My doctor did not feel that I was in any risk trying an alternative medicine such as this and as a good doctor should requested I keep him in the loop. My recovery is not complete and maybe never will, but I have recovered more from depression with the assistance of magic mushrooms than I ever imagined possible.
My theory that utilizing the secondary reward system allows the body time to make repairs to my primary reward system. Comparatively it reminds me of the difficulty you would have changing a tire while driving, compared the retaliative ease of changing a tire while the car is stopped and has been lifted by a jack. I have not felt this good in years. I can attribute some to better diet, exercise, reduced stress, and focus on my mental needs. But I did these things for years and did not notice such dramatic improvements in my mental state until I started medicating rarely with magic mushrooms.
