My favorite question:

Soil with 600w lights = 6oz
Soil with 1000w lights = 7oz
Hydro with 1000w lights = 22oz

Average:

Soil: 4oz
Hydro: 10oz

Last yield:

Biggest: 18oz
Smallest 12oz

Can you include the container sizes too? That tends to affect yield alot.

Very nice, hydro seems to be better because the roots can use more of the space, but it seems like hydro is a lot harder.
Well, I was just telling someone that it only takes me 2 minutes to transplant a 10" netpot basket from a 5 gallon bucket to an 18 gallon tote. The transplant factor is completely gone. Sounds way easier than soil transplanting.

Air/Water/Nutrients is all I need for my ladies. No dirty soil to dispose of ever. That sounds easier to me also :) You cant pour soil down the drain, but I can surely pour water down a drain.

So, it comes with a set of pros and cons list, that's for sure.

Hydro is actually a lot easier for me. There will be a learning curve for everyone but really after you do it for a while, it's pretty much second nature.

Yeah i would imagine that it is a pain to get used to, but once you do, it is easier than soil.
Off topic, but, I'm on day 6 of flower and my plants still aren't showing sex. How much longer ? :/

High guys, i have a 600w small closet grow going right now (I live in San Francisco). I'm moving to Maine with my brother to get legitimately started as growers in a few months...
My question is, should I invest in hydro equipment? Is it something that would make my aspirations more lucrative? Thanks for any replies! And if there are any mistakes, i just took a huge dab hitbongsmilie

I would wait until after the move to plan for this. I would focus on making sure your money is right for the trip. Afterwards though, yes, hydro is not a bad route to go. You can do it for pretty cheap or you can get complex with it. All depends on your style of growing and what works well for you and what you're comfortable with.

weed snob alert.
I didn't say I'm better than you because I'm a hydro guy. I said you couldn't pay me enough to grow in soil again. Nothing snob bout it. It's just more hassle in certain areas of growing that I don't care to deal with over the hydroponic method.

No need for any trolling. Keep it clean.

If i went the hydro route, I would definitely rig something together...any suggestions for a 600w setup? I don't mind soil, but things definitely cannot be adjusted quickly. Also, I have heard of legendary growth rate and potency from hydro or aero.

Well, to be honest, I would gather as much information about it as you can. You could like a DWC setup over a NFT setup. You might not be able to run certain hydro systems in closets. Some require more space.

To give you an idea: You have aero-growers, dwc growers, ebb n flow growers, bucket system growers... and they all have a particular build or setup that suits their needs and the style of grow they go for. The more you learn about it, the more you might change your mind on what you want. The more experience you get, you might decide to modify kits. Sometimes a particular kit is so modified it can be a combination of hydroponic systems; deep water culter with a top feed, recirculating bucket top feed, etc etc etc. It all depends in what you want to do!

Okie dokie, thanks man! I would probably have a whole room to grow in when i move...after a couple harvest i might invest in a decent hydro or aero setup.
