What’s going on guys. It has been a while for me and I am starting a new journal here but it will be a slow process. I have made my way out to Cali and am currently couch surfing. Once I lock down a place to stay I will be planning out what to do for growing with the space I have available. Some of my old equipment is elsewhere and I will try to get it ASAP but there’s no guarantee on that. My plan is to use T5 for veg and go with HPS for flower. I found three galaxy DE dimmable 1K watt ballasts on eBay for a price I could live with so those will be on the way next week after the holiday. So for the time being all I will have is my seed stash and a few ballast but it’s a good start. As money trickles in I will look for deals to make smart purchases and start gathering more things. I might be able to get some clones from a local clone fairy.

My initial goal is to get setup and running while dishing out the least amount of cash possible. I can always upgrade things later if need be. I’m choosing T5/HPS because it’s a tried and true combo. I’ve spent enough time in the past screwing around with other lights and have no interest in that at the moment.

Hope to see some familiar faces around here.

I got a new spot in Michigan now.

I had to stop growing about two years ago or so just wasn’t able to anymore where I was staying. Out in Cali now so once I get into my own spot shouldn’t have any time when I’m not growing lol. Good to see you around again. Feel free to discuss your new setup out in Mi if you want.

Ok guys small update today. I scored three Galaxy grow amp 1000K watt DE ballast on eBay for a good price. They shipped today and should be here by the end of the week. Still keeping an eye out for some decent hoods and will be getting some T5 fixtures at some point for veg.

Tonight brother @OneHitDone and I put into action what is the product of both our ideas. He had built me a small flood and drain Cloner years ago that is honestly the best and most consistent cloning system I have used to date. So we built a couple of bigger version of this old idea and we will be trying them out in the near future. I ordered a grodan tray and a sheet of rock wool cubes that should be here by weeks end. I am trying to plan ahead so I can get setup as fast as possible once I get into my own place. My stash of genetics arrived safe and sound today so I am getting excited.

Very small progress and already some frustration lol.

my grodan tray came in for the DIY flood and drain cloner.
The 3 ballast I bought on eBay arrived, plastic pieces falling out from the inside and missing one power cord and of the two cords that came one is wrong because it’s not a 240v cord. Currently waiting for time to elapse for eBay to handle my complaint and request for refund.
Still trying to track down some hoods but did find someone who told me I could have some free wing reflectors if I wanted.

I ordered an Auto Pot 4 pot XL system with res that uses the smart pot fabric pots to try out under one of the lights. That should be here next week.

still waiting for the refund on eBay from the douche canoe that is trying to stiff me with worn out ballasts.

suppose to have a deal lined up for some hoods and ballasts soon we will see.

I have some other goodies arriving next week.

Scored three dominator XXL hoods and 3 quantum 1K watt dimmable ballasts. The little I saw of Oregon is pretty neat for this city boy from Miami.

Found some RSO to try and venom OG as well. Can’t wait for later to try it. Still not use to living somewhere that you can go get weed easier than groceries lol.

I’m getting really anxious now to start popping seeds lol. Hopefully in the next couple weeks. We shall see.

I am debating returning the auto pot system when it arrives and just running the DIY SIP’s I use to run. They always worked great just not sure. Anyone have any thoughts that has used the auto pots and diy SIP’s?

I make mine with two 5 gallon buckets one inside the other and I cut a hole to set in a cup with coco as a whick before I put the soil in there. I put a pvc tube through both and that’s the fill tube. I cut the bottom end of the pvc that sits inside the bucket at a 45 degree angle so it doesn’t clog if something were to fall in there. If I want to get fancy I setup a tube like on the water farm and mark it full with a line then I eyeball my refills. If the flooring allows it I save the money and drill holes at the correct height and stop watering when it over flows.

This always worked for me even running nutes in coco

Both have their advantages as well as drawbacks the main thing the led has in its favor is operating cost but there is a learning curve to it the one I just built seems to differ from the one I've been using

operating Cost is a topic of huge debate. And I’m not trying to argue here but most people do not take into account the actual cost of running LED. Because in most climates you will need to run your A/C and Dehu more or get bigger units. So you can’t just compare light to light. The entire picture has to be taken into consideration. Bottom line is the environment plays more of a role than your light does. For most people anyways. Few people including myself have ever met a grow light that is our limiting factor.

if you can grow you can grow and what light you use is nothing more than personal preference. So it’s funny to see people get so worked up. Neither type of lighting is the end all be all every grow and environment is different and calls for different ways to address whatever issues arise
