Exactly Define Your God Experiment

WHy do you think beliefs are ideas for everyone?
Because beliefs are ideas.

There is no search for truth, the truth has been inside of you all the while. Though you continue to hide from it just like most of the population on the planet, thankfully there are those of us who have woken up from our delusion and are trying to wake others up too.

The truth is, if you have enough courage and you choose to quit hiding from yourself. That there are no answers to the metaphysical questions we all want to know so badly. We don't know what happens when you die, we don't know if we are ever going to see the loved ones we've lost ever again, we don't know weather or not we continue to exist or pass into the void of non-existence. I would respect your thought process so much more if you actually used it to make up your own ideas about your theological claims, at least you wouldn't be borrowing these ideas (beliefs) from someone else's mind. It takes true strength to remove the shackles of your mind, to remove the ideas that have been indoctrinated into since you have been a child. It is not your fault, its how you chose to deal with life with the prospect of so many questions left unanswered.

The truth is, that there is no truth... you have been trying to make it up this whole time. Come to terms with that from within yourself, and the shackles that bind your mind will fall off, you will be set free.

"Ucertainty in the presents of vivid hopes, dreams and fears can be so very painful...but must be endured if you wish to live life without the support of comforting fairy tales"

The least you could do is think for yourself, rather than letting others do it for you...

Strife, I think you assume that everyone had the same tone to their christian upbringing. Not a single person in my family (clergy members included) tried to indoctrinate us, as you put it. It is common sense to think that people are going to take from it what they will. Followed...usually, by living your own life, in your own house, with you rules that you make for yourself. Maybe, if a person finds the positive in the history of lessons, they might not make the same mistakes that other people have made. Which kinda sounds like a parable, to me.

At any rate, it's unfortunate that you've had that upbringing. I think it might have happened so that you rebel against the idea of it, potentially making you a stronger person. I've learned to be careful just how far I sway from the ideas. For years I've watched how long it takes to turn a huge boat around.

gods a sneaky one, didn't he knock up the virgin mary without her knowing? to make jesus christ? lol, One thing Ive learned from the bible is that two people can make an entire civilization apparently....God only made adam and eve, how does the entire worlds population come from 2 people? A lot of crossing of brothers and sisters? Ive heard many people say the bible is the biggest lie ever told.

This sounds dangerously close to woo-woo, careful ZS...

You like to use the word truth a lot... I'm not sure you've really defined it either, you kind of contradict yourself a few times.

I'm confused.... is there no truth, or is it inside you? If there's no truth, then why do we need the courage to stop hiding from... oneself? to find something that doesn't exist?

^^ No, some things are best left unsaid, but only if you're in a forest and you're trying to figure out if the thing that's unsaid is actually said in the forest of the mind anyway - but still heard by people outside of it who are within the radius of ever expanding circles.

I think the best thing ( God) is something not left unsaid :) With such a broad question for a post, you are going to get a broad range of answers. I am able to define my god, but I am not everybody. Simply put, my God is Jesus Christ. The Son of God. As endless as this universe is, is as endless amount of ways to glorify him. Essentially that is all you are asking people to do with that question. If you are a non-believer or are faithless , God is incoherent concept that is never fully defined. To that I say, in EVERY religion, Faith is a GIFT.

Eph. 2:8 says "for it is by grace you have been saved, through faith, which is not of you, and that it is the gift of God" With that, In my opinion and faith, I would say if there is ever a definition of God, your answer is only to be found through faith, and by the grace of God :)

* " I am he who is " was Jesus response when Moses asked God for a name some 2,000 years ago :)

...white, as in, the space under your text. Please do not misread :)

I knew what you were saying, but then added a little 'non-being' into it as well.

When I responded all I had read of from you in relation to my message was;

How does someone misread a single word such as "white?" I took it as in you meant precisely as you stated, that being "white." So I explained.

I did not read any of your follow up messages until after making my reply so I had seen nothing where you;

...well, as long as it's good that I am keeping this light-hearted, I'm happy.

The truth is that there is no truth, and if you are true to yourself, if you are honest with yourself, you will come to the understanding that no matter how much truth you try to give yourself, there really isn't any at all.

It's all just... thought, ideas, imagination, wishful thinking. You can pretend you know all you want, but when you come face to face with yourself, when you become completely and utterly honest with yourself... you know, understand, and accept that there is no certainty...

It just astounds me, how scared people are with the stories that their parents indoctrinated them with. You know within yourself that there is a possibility that there may be no heaven or hell, that there may be no existence after this one. And regardless of that knowledge you still choose to have "faith" and i ask myself why that is. With so much uncertainty, probability and so many possibilities they choose to have faith in this one idea, this one thought... when there are so many other ideas and thoughts that are way cool, so many ideas that you can make up for yourself... It is a combination of parental indoctrination... and fear. That is the only thing keeping people from dropping their dogmatic way of thinking. Fear that when you die, you might go to hell... and all you have to do is accept what others tell you to accept, and after you die you live forever. All you have to do is ask for forgiveness, you can still keep doing bad things, just ask for forgiveness and really mean it and your slate is wiped clean. Fear that you may never be able to see your loved ones who have perished again. You know that there is a possibility that these ideas may be wrong, why keep faith in them when there are so many other ideas out there to choose from. I say be brave, pick your own ideas and thoughts... don't let others think for you, think for yourselves.

Don't live your life in fear, don't let others choose what you think... because you are what you think, not what you think you are.
