Exhaust fan outside

Hey again ya'll!

I was about to start my first time tent grow but before I started I wanted to test my carbon filter.
To my surprise the filter was fucked because you can smell anything that I put inside the tent.
So I got a new filter from the store and they gave me a better filter it's a brand named Carbo Air (got a cheap china filter first).
The only downside is that it's to big to mount the fan and the filter together as I did before, since I only have a 60cm x 140cm tent.

So I was thinking about hooking it up this way ---- Filter--- Ducting--cooltube--- Ducting---exhaust fan, so I'll have the exhaust outside on the top of my tent sucking air through my tent and blowing it out. I want the filter inside my tent and not outside because I want to scrub my tent before the air leaves the tent, since I can't have any smell at all.

Another way I was thinking about was to hang the filter inside where the tent door is, duct it to the other side of the tent and have my fan there and connect it to the cooltube and then ducting it out. But I'm concerned that it will be too much ducting.

What are your suggestions?

You can put the fan outside the tent if you need to due to space constraints. Or you can do as you said and run additional ducting inside the tent. Either way will work.

The longer run of duct the harder the fan will have to work for the same flow, but that's the only downside, and at a couple feet, it will be miniscule. Also try to have as few bends as possible

Maybe it's better to have the fan outside on the top then, since if I add more ducting from the filter to the fan I'll have one more bend. I already have 2 bends in the duct from my cooltube.

What size is your fan? That's a small tent. I'm assuming you're fan is a 4 inch. Even with runs of ducting it will work for the size you're dealing with.

You're spot on! 4inch fan it is.
Haha, yeah I know it's a wee little tent and it's the only size tent I can fit in my little apartment.

I have a tent the same size I use for veg. I don't have a fan on it but your fan is more than enough. If you haven't already and your fan can work with one I'd suggest a speed controller because you can turn that fan down and still have plenty of airflow. I used a 4 inch in my 4 x 4 flower tent and the 200 cfm was enough to exhaust the heat but the 4 inch carbon filter didn't cut it so I upgraded to a 6 inch filter and fan on a controller. I keep it turned almost all the way down. So if you're running that fan full blast you don't need to. It's also much quieter turned down.

Use passive intakes with a a bottom vent open and filtered to prevent crap from getting in the tent and for negative pressure. You could open one vent on the bottom opposite of the carbon filter on the top to get a good air exchange. Use a speed controller to turn down your fan to make it run quieter and still get more than adequate air exchange. Either placement options you've mentioned for the fan will work.

There's two modes on the fan, one for 110cfm (187mh/3) and one for 86,5cfm (147mh/3) and the max capacity for the filter is 206cfm (350 mh/3)
I'll be using one of the vents on the bottom of the tent as a passive intake and fortunately it's on the opposite side of the carbon filter :)

Thanks for your help! kind of got a major headache at first cuz' I've been tryin' to set this up for 3 weeks now.
