EYE HORTILUX? worth the extra money?

i have the option of buying the 600w HPS bulb or upgrading to Hortilux for additional 30$. A lot of people have told me color schemes give off healthy veg stage growth and this makes sense to me.

BUT, some people have told me they burn out quicker and that I would be better off going with the standard HPS.

my room is 5.5ft.x3.5ft.

Plan on throwin (6) three gallon potters under the 600w.

Any ideas or suggestions about the Standard vs. the Hortilux??

Thanks

I don't think the life span is less on them..I just looked on my box and can't find the expected hours though to compare..lol...but I think the extra $$ is worth it.

Here's the link to Hortilux Super HPS lamps..has their tech specs like lifespan (hours), etc...looks like 16,000 hrs for Hortilux 600w HPS, and 24,000 for the 400w and 1000w. Glad I got 400's :) Tho if I had the 1000 watters I could run the Hortilux Dual Arc (has both HPS and MH super blue Hortilux bulbs in one lamp!). Damn my tiny room! :(

PS -- the better spectrum you speak of for vegging plants is probably the Hortilux Super Blue line (metal halides). Not the HPS line. Just FYI..

i think light is light, but usable light to a plant is different, if it made another 1/4 oz on the yeild it paid for itself. My next bulb will be a hortilux.

USABLE LIGHT TO A PLANT IS DIFFERENT...

Your right! Plants need PAR watts, and they only use a portion of the lamp's emitted spectrum. Hortilux has better spectrums and PAR watts imho than most others...so go with the best...Hortilux!

back to the actual question...dchydro was selling ge 600 watt hps lights for like 14 bucks i bought 3, they wouldn't come on for hours complete junk. don't skimp on bulbs. doesn't have to be the best but with those 3 bulbs i could have got 1 good one

thank you for all the responses!! Hortilux will be my choice. you guys are right the extra 1/4oz will make it pay off shit even 1/8oz cuz i use it on multiple grows! thanks again all.

ill post pics in a new thread showing my whole setup when its complete.

other question is...indica? sativa? or hybrid?

ive never grown indoor before but i hear indica is good cuz its generally easier to grow, maintain, and good results =D
