Fallponics brown sludge

i'm trying out a few plants in coco and been using a mix of hyrdroton and growstones instead of perlite in the coco
 
They make this smart gravel out of recycled plastic. You could even use marbles if you wanted. Hydroton is not a requirement.

So do you guys get good yields doing hydroponics? Why am I having an issue with my yields. It's like the veg goes amazing and get growth. Then flower comes and it looks good nice and frosty but no size. I even buy seeds that say that they are large yielding big bud plants. Yet all I get is golf ball size buds that srink alot when dried

In my experience it's always light leaks that cause sludge. The tiniest bit of light in the rez and brown alge grows. I average 10oz. (dry) Per plant in my hydro system.

How in the world are you doing 10oz? Lol my first hydro run I trashed it all. And my second try I got 6oz off 4 plants. I'm seriously making a mistake somewhere
 
Also I'm not familiar with your system but I can see light thru my 2" pvc so I cover it with that reflective bubble wrap stuff , that's also what I use to make my net pot covers.

What and how much are you feeding?

Sorry I asked as you put that information in your first post.

How are you topping up the reservoir and how often do you dump it and replace with fresh solution?
 
I top off once a week with half to 75% nutrients per gallon. I change out once a week top off Wednesday and change out and add new Saturdays

Maybe I need to veg longer than a month or get my light closer or lollipop and clean up the plant more. Maybe I need to learn to read my plant and what it needs better. Maybe I have root rot and I'm mistaken it for brown algae. It can be a number of things

I veg for 60 at least. Usually ends up longer because shit always seems to happen
