Fatjoe Xmas Grow

Well, the time has come to start giving some thought to my next grow. The photos regs on the block are all from a veterans giveaway I entered earlier this year. The goal is to have these ready for some gifts this Christmas.

Reg strains. 3 seeds of each will be started. 4 Cap Junky fems as well.
I gotta keep in mind though that all this is subject to a tweak as I go. Seeds can be fickle creatures so it all depends on what cracks and what doesn't. The lineup may change a little bit no doubt the fire in the ones left will come burning through in the end.

This grow will feature Jacks nutrients once again. My last grow has sold me on the power of Jack's so why change anything. I use...

Jack's 202020
Jacks Bloom 103020
Calcium nitrate
Epsom salts
Tap water

These 4 ingredients in promix hp myco work great. If it needs water it gets Jack's. Can't get much more simple than that.

7/18 soaked all these beans.
7/19 transfer to paper towels
7/20 everything has tails.
All planted in 20oz cups.

Few days later I've got 15 lil ones emerged. The next few days I've had to cull a few and one just didn't come up.

Jumping ahead a few weeks to get caught up. They all did well in veg and grew so fast I threw them in flower to identify sex at about 16days old. Found some space under the scrog. They don't need much. Just a light cycle.
1000000686.jpg
A week later a few have almost reached the screen. Whoa girls...it's not your turn yet..lol
1000000768.jpg

Pulled them for pics. Some are a bit stretchy but I'm okay with that. Once I find my girls. I'll lop off some lower growth and plant them at the height I want them. Then start training.

Bounce forward a few days and on day 8 they showed me 3 males.
2 GreenCrack/MangoHp
1 ForgetMeNot..last plant so this strain is out.

I kinda figured the taller growing ones would pop nutz. 7 more to go. I only need 4 but we shall see. It always goes this way. Either I get to many plants or not enough..lol Regular seed grows are always unpredictable.

Nice looking grow! I run Jacks too but I use the 5-12-26 and the 321 method. May I ask why you choose the 202020?
Thank you, and thanks for dropping in.

I dunno why I use Jack's 202020..lol. I stumbled upon a few growers using it and adopted their method. I grow in promix peat. I'm guessing maybe your in coco? I'm definitely headed to your thread..lol. I read all I can on Jack's.

It seems by feeding at a low dose every time I water the plants respond well...become conditioned..I dunno. I'm not sure of the npk numbers but it works well when combined with calnit and Epsom. Pretty cost effective too. Classic and bloom both perform well. My last run convinced me I was on the right track.

I do like the 051226. Prob a little easier managing the N. I use very little calnit. It gives that N bounce and much needed calcium...which Jack's Bloom does not have.
I have to keep an eye open for N toxicity but I've not screwed it up yet..lol. I'm kinda doing the same program as masterblend or the 321 your doing. Base/calnit/Epsom

For a cheap nutrient jacks does a great job. My 1.5lb little tub of Bloom has flowered 8 autos and 11 photos to the end. It's supporting 6 more in flower now and I'm still not the the bottom yet..lol. 1/4-1/2tsp per watering goes a long way.

PS..can't seem to access your profile. Could ya link me to what ya got going on?

I cant wait to see what the SFVOG does especially being BX.

Your grow is beautiful and it shows you do good work! Funny about the Jacks. I am using the Classic Palm Food 16-5-25. I see you are using the 202020 and @RottyRzr uses the 5-12-26 and the 321 method. Once my girls hit 5 weeks I start adding PK Bloom with the Jacks Classic. All of it works great if you understand what the plants need!

It's from a good breeder. I've seen many pics of this strain and all good. Hoping for a sativa leaner in the buzz. I've never grown this strain before. Pretty excited to have the opportunity. I saw no signs of clusters yesterday. I may get all 3 girls.

I hear that. It all works. Ya just gotta find what works for you. So you don't run the bloom at all. I've read some threads where guys do PK booster over the bloom. I've not ventured into all that yet...I keep an open mind and read a lot. I like my way but hey there's always some tweak out there..lol

It's nice to have a pretty care free grow. Minimal work and lots of bud. Give me more time to train plants. I get bored...I bend things..lol

1 SFV OGbx3 has popped some balls so I'm down to 6 and need 4.

Cap Junky....training has started for them. All fem photos. 1000000742.jpg

An issue has risen. This Cap Junky plant is like two plants in one. Double stems which are shooting off more double stems. Growth all over and very weird. Also growing very slow.

I've spoken with the breeder and he suggested to cull it. So, I have no emotional attachment to it so I'll end it.

Yeah I've knocked around that idea but info I'm gathering tells me to just end it. Makes sense to me. Grow what I know is right. Cull the weak.

This girl is over 30days old and very small...growing slow as molasses. Im trying to setup this Xmas grow and it's being a slacker...oddly pretty but unpredictable. I'm gonna have to bow her out. Move on to what I know will produce.

I, and several growers I know, have used Jacks 20/20/20 for over a decade. 1000s of plants. They use the Classic and the Bloom Booster. I also grew in Promix, peat blend for years, and did the exact same method you described.

I used it that way for years, and eventually, I started cranking it up, and adjusting ppm per stage of growth, and alternate with phd water every other watering.

I've seen salt/nute buildup in the medium and the plants lockout, with feeding it, every watering.

I just started making my own 50/50 peat/coco blend, and switched to a different nutrient.
JR Peters products work great though, however you use them!

Another trick with Jacks is to mix it in a 1/2 gal or so, of hot water to dissolve it well, then mix the rest of the cold water in. Less likely to get un-dissolved salts built up.

I hear ya on the overfeeding thing. That's why I back down the amounts with every feeding. They get the recommended amount. It's just spread out a little.

Jacks says 1/2tsp gal weekly or 1/4 every watering. I usually water twice a week so as they get bigger they seem to eat it up pretty fast. By late flower they are feeding 3x a week. A little more than jacks suggests in a week but I get no problems watering to run off.

Ive dumped straight water before too but not very often.

Odd thing is I meter nothing. Haven't since Dec and somehow it all falls together. I don't miss checking ph or ppm. I watch for signs but the promix seems to buffer everything nicely. Kinda hard to trust a product but some work well.

N toxicity is my biggest concern with jacks. I ride that tight rope the whole grow and things seem to go well. I get a lot of feed back doing things this way but for me it's working.

I think what your doing is working great! Your plants are nice and healthy.
I like your "culling" perspective. I always keep a few more going than I need, and have even tossed them out, 3-5 weeks in flower. If it doesn't seem right, or is finicky, or doesn't like my grow style, I move on. Lots of great genetics out there!

My first grow since returning locked out big dawg. What a mess.

I used TDS one nutrients, metered everything, followed the charts and other grower advice and it turned into a shit show. Once I found Jack's and promix I tossed the TDS crap along with my meters. Never looked back. Now I just tweak my three ingredients and roll with it.

Salts build up isn't happening so I'm going on with what I do. Out of all the plants I e grown with Jack's I've not seen one issue with salts buildup. Nor have the plants shown any distress.

I dunno man, like ya said..it just works.

Lol.. premeditated murder is a trait I carry..lol. I have no problem culling a plant that doesn't perform well. I have grown plants before I doubted and more often than not they are a flop. Shoulda went with my gut..lol

Cap Junky....

So that weird plant has been culled. The other three are doing okay at 28 days.1000000797.jpg

These two are growing normal and pretty fast. Check those stems. One purple and one not. Maybe I'll get some color in one...maybe.
1000000795.jpg1000000794.jpg

This one is just a little slower and more compact than the other two.

Blue Moon Rocks.....two females identified the other day. Sadly, the third showed me nutz.
IMG_20240821_182420208.jpg

SFV OGbx3...2 females found last night. I'll plant these deep when I up pot. They are about 18"+.
IMG_20240822_182316234.jpg

The leaves on these plants have been rather large.
IMG_20240822_185929696.jpg

Before and after....I removed some leaf to expose more light. I don't take to many. The leaves are important but can block a lot.

My veg tent is getting busy lately. I'll be making more room soon. Moving the DP into flower soon.
