Hey thanks for that. Where did you get the cob light spread etc? Just estimates? and I'm going with 4. It's more than plenty for my needs ^^Hey two quick and ugly paint drawings, one with 4 COBs and one with 5 COBS. I also think, that a good pentagon frame, distributes the light more effectively.
Just my two cents.

But you could do the same with 6.. or 7 cobs right? I'm just poor, so.. I think 4 will be more than plenty for my 2x2 space. :/Yeah just fictitious, but I think you get the idea.

4 is perfect for a 2x2. They will be a foot or more above the plants so using a pentagon adds no value at all, it just forces you to put the cobs closer to the walls. 1 cob six inches from each wall corner creates perfect spacing. But you could do the same with 6.. or 7 cobs right? Well, I'm on a budget, but I'm not going to be investing in a sub par solution, when the ideal solution would be 4 cobs.. ^^ Like if the upgrade from 2 cobs, to 4 cobs, is a 40% increase yield wise, and the increase from 4 to 5 is a 5% increase, it's not worth it in my book. If that makes sense.I don't understand why you feel the need for more than (2) CXB3590's in this application................especially if you say you're on a budget............
Exactly the spacing I was thinking about. 16 inches long and 16 inches wide + shape. That leaves roughly 6 inches on each side to the walls ^^4 is perfect for a 2x2. And 4 cxb3590 fit perfectly on an hlg120 which saves a bit more money and gives about 38watts sq/ft.Evil-Mobo if he only would run two COBs, he should go with Vero's, they are more efficient at higher wattage. The spread wouldn't be that perfect.
HandyGringo 5 x cxb3590 fits perfectly to the hlg185.
To me there's no sense in forking out the cash for top bin 3590's to run so many soft in a given area. There are other COB's that would accomplish the same for less $$, so when someone is talking budget going overkill on 3590's is not what comes to mind lol..........Evil-Mobo if he only would run two COBs, he should go with Vero's, they are more efficient at higher wattage. I plan on running them harder on flowering though. That's not what you mean though, is it? Like what cobs would you be using instead? ^^To me there's no sense in forking out the cash for top bin 3590's to run so many soft in a given area. Do you think the 5th cob will make big difference? And the 185H 1050mA will be fine for both 5 cobs and 4 right? If you run them dimmed at 700mA you get 64% efficiency and during flowering you can raise to 1050.
But yeah 4 cree's will also handle it.
I am feeling more ill than usual and not in the mood for an argument, and I can easily see this going down that route but whatever. Different strokes for different folks. When someone can show me with results how much of a difference a % in efficiency that's within any margin of error makes such a huge difference in a grow then I'm all ears.I plan on running them harder on flowering though. That's not what you mean though, is it? Like what cobs would you be using instead? ^^
Cheers!
