First ever grow burt tips curled leaves.... heat stress nute burn? size?

yea lots of things i can point out in this one. Foil is bad, not bad now, cuz of their small size, but bigger plants will get closer to the foil, and the foil reflects light in a way that causes hot spots, cuasing burns (noticed as white-bleached spots)

No perlite/vermiculite mixed in for drainage - not an issue now.... but by the time your flowering, its a HUGE DEAL, and then its gonna be too late to fix it.

that necrosis on the leaf might be nutrient burn, its very easy to have that happen with such a small plant

also, pic 3 or so shows like its a long stem before the first set of leaves appear, the coty-- somethings. i dunno what they are called, the 2 little round ones. im guessing they were leaning over so thats why ya stuck that little green stick thing in there, for support, just add more dirt, i try to make the dirt be around 1inch under the first set of leaves. more dirt = more space for roots, and more place for water to hang out for the roots - like a bigger plate for food.

will they be fine? yea, no worries, just dont overwater/overfeed, and lose that foil - use a flat white paint, or pay for the mylar sheets.

The OP is using cfl lighting, hot spots and burns are not very likely with tin foil. But that being said mylar or flat white paint is a better way to go.

To the OP water, feed = just water, then nutes next watering, just water, nutes and so on.

alright update time: went out bought perlite and vermiculite mixxed it in with new soil i had left over. the soil i had bought was miricle grow orgainic choice .10 .05 .05

i nuked enough soil for each pot for 2 minutes each. letting the mixture cool. then im gonna transplant them again..... hopfully i wont stress them out to much.

im going to plant them quite a bit lower and rinse off the old soil and make sure its bug free. the bugs i had were actually fungus knats. i noticed a couple of flys running around, and then a couple had walked on the sticky sticks.

now time to transplant

i know this question is gonna be plant specific... lights, temps, humidity, ph etc etc etc, but since i transplanted my plants the larger leafs have somewhat wilted and looks like they are dieing but the new smaller ones on top seem quite healthy still... how long would it take for a plant to recover from a major transplant? all new soil rinse the roots of old soil?

Was about to say same thing Ringsixty. Wilted leaves burnt tips...not enough drainage. Transplant recovery 1-3 days depending on how rough you were.

What kind of mix are you using like whoever said it might be to much for the little guy. Sounds like your a budget grower if I was you I would save 45 bucks go to your hydro store get a hydrofarm bucket or a general hydroponics single bucket system check out my pics they do work. But get a ph meter for your soil that always has to be managed well if you want your baby to suck up all the yummy nutes. These are seedlings in my buckets.

But hey you know that all ladies are strong or at least resilient so shit man if your a super low budget or just trying to see if it will work just let it go it will be fine just make sure your plants dont get root bound in those buckets. HAPPY Growing and learning.

im not really a budget grower, i got 7 seeds from a friend and i thought why not, finally got outa the house, lets see if it works, if it works and i even get 5 J's from it, i'll be happy then the real growing begins.
i got a soil ph tester and water ph tester, the soil reads from 6.4-6.8 fluctuates day to day. the water i use is from the tap, I then throw it through the britta filter witch gives me a ph of 6.2-6.4. i treid to be as gentil as possible i filled the sink with about 2 inches of water, and dipped the roots in letting the water soften the dirt, thus releasing it from the roots. then i tried to pick off the old dirt that was stuck to them.... had to try and get off ALL dirt cause of larva.

When you transplant do NOT wash off the dirt; try to keep it all together and place it in the middle of the new pot. I know you had to mix in some perlite for drainage but you really dont want to disturb the roots. Transplaning is one of the most stressful things a plant goes through, but they should recover.

i had to remove all the dirt because there was a massive infestation of either fungus knat larva or symphilids. i was worried that if i didn't get all the dirt then 1 or more larva could be left behind and the transplant would have been usless.

So on 1 plant the fan leaves have shriveled up, but the new growth that has stopped growing is still shiny and a nice green. The others I beleive are going well. The fan leaves are drooping almost laying flat but dont show any signs that its dieing, the color seems healthy imo and and the new growth I think is growing very slowly. At 7 days after transplant I'll post pics of day 1-7 morning and evening pics.Cheers thanks for all your help

simple, to much water. over watering... try going a little on the dry side ...thirst that sucka up a little... keep an eye on her and see (learn) how she responds. Dont ever be afraid to play with the roots. pull dead roots, moldy roots.....

I mixxed in the perlite and vermiculite with the new batch of nuked soil. I've been giving them little bits of water.
Update on plants- the one that had all droopy fan leaves now perked up over night, everything looks good now. I'm not gonna start nutes untill I see some good growth.

BTi will kill those bugs. Mosquito dunks are sold at home depot, lowes, wal mart etc. Just break about 1/4 of a puck off and put it in with a gallon of water, reusable for 30 days, does not matter if it drys out. I used to have problems with fungus gnats, now i just keep a puck in my reservoir and no more gnats. takes a couple of days to totally get rid of them, it kills the larva from the inside out, tears thier guts up. hope this helps

thanks rob007! i cant find bt anywhere, since its off season, all the large stores only have about 1/4 of the gardening department, and all the nurseries are all closed till spring.

hopefully nuking the soil did the trick. so far so good after 2.5 days. we'll see after a week to see if the start crawling around again.

from what i've gathered... is as long as i water according to how my mixtures drains.... it should be ok.
