I passed on cannabis until after school/college sports, and when I did try it the first few times just gave me hot lung. When I did start smoking more it was with a neighbor of mine who was well experienced and had some good connections, but I was only getting stoned.
Then came the day when I first got high
Same neighbor worked at a high end car shop in Birmingham and called me up and said I should be there at 6pm for an afterhours "meeting". I showed up for the meeting and so did two high profile brothers, one who played hockey in MI, the other played in Canada, they showed up in a BMW Z8 picking up a Ferrari 456GT that was being worked on (one brother crashed this car shortly afterwards). There was also a silver contraption that I had never heard or seen before, a Volcano. After that session, I remember standing on a ramp into the garage, and even though I was standing still, the angle of it was too much, I felt dizzy and when I took a step forward it felt like I had walked 10 feet. Then immediately after that I wasn't sure if I had in fact walked through a wall or not, I couldn't tell. Everyone was going to Dave and Busters to watch a Pistons game afterwards, but my neighbor and I didn't make it till later, I refused to drive. I had been stoned plenty of times before, but I had never felt high as a space-kite, and I wasn't coming down so we just sat in the lot listening to music until I finally did, what felt like 2 hours waiting in that lot turned out to be under 20min. I experienced all sorts of new phenomena: spacial distortion, time stopped feeling linear, introspected awareness (I KNEW what I knew), and association of colors with sounds. I decided I liked getting high, much more than being stoned, and I have been climbing up ever since with no plan on gliding down.
Cannabis also helped break down stereotypes I had been programmed with since childhood.
The plant is special.
