First Florida Outdoor Grow

and they did get back up to 5-9 leaflets per leaf right? Seems like something put her in shock, and she wasn't rescued in time, though with babying she should be able to come back. One year after I harvested there was just the first inch of the base stem left, three weeks later I realized that it had grown two new branches on it! I had a double harvest off of it 3 1/2 months apart, and there wasn't any foliage left at all (I did leave the mister on it though...) wierd huh?

hey whats up man i live in south florida and idk if it is but i think you got some mold and that worries me cause i wanna grow next season down here outdoor as well but dam for a himalaya gold that is some leafy as bud lol how much do you expect to yeild from from that plant ??

Not sure which miracle grow soil they are in but the only suitable MG soil is the mositure control soil but you have to make sure you use water that is phed to 6.8 or you will get brown burns and lots of yellowing and dying leaves so make sure you ph the water or you ll have issues. Also the hairs turning means not enough light usually or no long enough light periods forceing excelerated flowering before they are ready.Make sure you flush the soil real well before going to flower as MG has high nitrogen and you want to stop nitrogen and go heavy phos and potassium to induce correct flowering cycles.PS those last pics seemto show bud rot.Did these get lots of rain or humidity with heat as that would cause that issue also

I dont expect to yield much from the grow, but Im happy i will get some bud that i grew myself :D

Hurricane FAY is hurtin my grow.
Its been raining hard on and off every day......i am worried of overwatering and the clouds blocking sunlight.

italia, it does have to do with strain, himalaya gold in the right conditions grows huge with all branches growing as big or bigger than the main cola.

I might have to harvest early to save the plants from overwatering/mold/bud rot

Thanks all i will update soon.

Hey Crusso, I'm in the same boat. Do you think transplanting [into new, drier soil] would help prevent root rot? That's one of my main concerns right now too...

I also live in florida,
but depending on your growing you could just bring your plants say in the garage. for the night. and just turn the light on in there for day...
it will probably get better light fr these few days that way anyways.... and that spares them from flooding...

if your plants are already in the ground, idk if you tryed to transplant them it might be too much shock for the plant to handle... and it might die...

im rooting for the best...

Yeah, she's in a pot, but she's about a fifth of a mile away from my house through the woods and tied (LST'd) to a chickenwire enclosure - so I would have to be very cautious when moving her. As much as I would like to bring her into the garage, that means that I would have to bring her back out there...and I'd rather not risk the (although unlikely) chance of someone seeing me walking down the back trail with a plant wrapped in chickenwire, carried on a piece of plywood.

The only thing I can do is wait it out and hope (hope hope) for the best.

I dont think transplanting will help much with root rot if the plant is going to stay outdoors anyway. My plants are nowhere near my home so there is no garage or indoor place to put them. They have to stay outdoors....

In the morning i get about 3-6 hours of sunlight everyday but then either at night or the afternoon....it pours and pours....

I have soil moist crystals in my soil to retain moisture because i knew my plants in the full sun would dry up faster...(and boy they did) and now with the rain.....im afraid that the soil does not even get a chance dry at all..

this is a BIG problem because my plants are all flowering right now! for good crystal/tricome production the plants roots must get oxygen(dryness)

I will check my plants this weekend... I am expecting to see some plants fallen over because of the high winds and too much water. If this is the case then I will either try to prop them back up and put soil on the main stem for support...or if the plant is already dieing...then harvest any buds that are left and hope that no mold got to them!

Til then, wish me luck guys!

Hello everyone... little change of plans and i went early... I saw plants leaning over and some buds had turned brown and i guess they are dieing... the rest of the plants seem fine...

They smell nice and have about 30% orange hairs and the rest are really white... I cant tell if the trichomes are becoming cloudy..... And i dont want the rest of the buds to turn brown like these did!

Also a branch had fallen down so i took it off and left it in a dry spot to later take home...

in picture moto31 (4th to last pic) im holding the branch next to one of the plants...

Figure it out please THESE ARE ALL PHONE PIX

They were perfectly good buds a while back...crystals and all....

do you think there is any chance i could still dry, cure and smoke it?

I have no problem smoking brown bud....... its the buzz that counts... I believe there is still THC ... it just does not look green.... I guess that's ultimately up to me...

Ill salvage all of it and compare once its all cured...

Hard to see from the close up (not quite focused, 87kb), but looks like bud rot to me. If you harvest bud rot, when you jar it up, later it will smell of strong ammonia. It is a mold and frankly I would be skeptical about inhaling mold microbes into my lungs. Why take the chance?

I come across bud rot all the time. Florida reaches humidity levels of 80 - 90% depending upon local conditions for three months or so in high summer. That's 24/7 humidity with, or without a storm. Best thing you can do is trim the affected areas as they appear. If you leave it on, it will spread. Many times I have found no outer sign but when you peel a cola open, its running inside everywhere. Sometimes you have to make the choice to harvest everything or just trim. Bud rot is very quick and can seemingly appear out of nowhere.

P.S. there is a product selling in the UK called "BUD ROT STOP". They swear it stops bud rot and revitalizes the affected areas back to full strength. I have no idea whether it works or not, but so far I have not seen this in the USA. Hope this helps.

out.

I went last night to cut that branch off and take it home with the branch that broke off by itself... the leaves/buds had been dried by the sun...
I took off most of the fan leaves last night as well..
it seems that the nonstop rain is over..

anyways this afternoon i rolled n smoked 2 joints of this brown bud with a buddy

I couldn't feel my body for a period of time...cool experience..

then I listened to some music and later i ate a LOT of food :eyesmoke:

I cant wait for the real harvest..:blsmoke: More pix later... peace :peace:

yeah, bud rot for sure... getting rid of the infected areas is your best bet... you barely need to water at all in florida.... should try to plant in a windy area.

yes, and never underestimate how quickly it will spread. Better to over cut the infected area than under. You'll come back in two weeks to garbage. I check on my buds every day in the summer, it happens that quick.
Good luck.

out.
