Thank u! I was thinking that might be a good idea. This first grow I ended up having to tie a whole lot of branches to the ceiling for support. Any suggestion on the spacing of the squares? I've read u want them to be @2-3" apart. Is cargo netting to small?
If you can attach things to your ceiling then a floating screen could work well for you.
I use wire sheep fencing for my ScroGs. Has squares from about 4x4" to 4x6" and I use short pieces of twist tie to secure the grow tips to the screen and as the branches grow longer keep tying down tips as they stand up so the whole branch is growing horizontally along the wire. As they grow out side branches I tie those tips down too. When I have a large gap to get across I'd tie in some wire or twist tie from a roll to act as a bridge so I had something to tie to as the tip progressed across the gap. As the branches grow you can remove ties from the back and use them up front so you don't need hundreds of pieces of twist tie.
This is how I set up my first DWC Scrog. The screen is attached with baling wire from the tops of the posts so as teh plant grew up the screen could 'float' and rise with it. Only goes up a couple inches but then the plant isn't pushing up hard which could force the net pot down thru the lid of the tub.
Was a taller plant already when I installed it into the tub and bent the branches over to start tying them down. Best to have the screen in place then as the tops get longer start tying down to the screen. A couple times I wanted to re-position a branch so it was a simple thing to undo 3 or 4 ties, move the branch and tie it down again. If you weave through the screen you better get it right the first time as you're not moving that branch.
This one finished up early this year. 6 plants, 3 strains all hooked into a 4x4' screen of the same wire using bamboo garden stakes as a frame. The screen is suspended from the ceiling on wire chain that I use for everything that needs hanging. The pots are on a wheeled dollie so I could move it around to get to the back or either side. Bit of a tight fit.
Another setup so I could go horizontal and vertical. The front of that got held up with the chains from the ceiling until the plants could support the screen on their own.
Then you end up with something like this.
A real mix up with two plants in pots and a revegged DWC plant that almost died but came back and gave twice as much as the other two in pots combined.
A ScroG can more than double your yields and help get the most out of your lights.
