this is what i ended up ordering...

i think i am guna go chop the first one right now. the second one it just starting to get orange hairs. the one im chopping is definitely almost ready, could use probably a lil more time but i want this to be the last week i buy weed. ever. lol. so i will be chopping lady number one, hanging to dry until next monday, when the smoke report will begin...then i need to get my glass jar to keep them in...so amped!

go to wal mart they sell canning jars by the 12 and 24 pack.

also those big drink coolers with the little pour spout at the bottom, you know the kind meant to bring outside to a cookout with ice in it ? those will work good if you dont want to cut up the big buds, you can find them at the dollar store.

Yup walmart always has pretty cheap jars. I just picked up a 12 pack of the 1 liter jars for $7 which is pretty cheap imo.

nice i will definitely be grabbing them at walmart. i do have one flip top jar thats about a liter that has the rubber gasket and clamp lock...those are kinda pricey though.

so the chop went well. i think. it looks like buds lol. i showed my buddy this morning and he was like "yeah that will look good once u trim the rest of the leaves off" lol. i guess i didnt do a good enough job. too difficult to explain properly, but i guess they could be trimmed a lil closer. anyway they still look pretty nice and theyre drying in the small 2x2 cube. i want to explain this better but cant seem to find the words, and i dont want to just post a pic...grrrr

i suppose thats a good sign. a lil nug fell off when i was trimming yesterday and i left it on the windowsill above the sink that gets sun all day yesterday then put it on top my plasma for a few hours which gets pretty hot...and its now mostly gone in my bowl in front of me. lol. not too bad...definitely creeped up, and seems to be lasting a fair amount of time. it was really pretty. lol.

yeah so i ended up cancelling the order for the magnifier. guess i dont really need it anyway...reason being the bank accepted the offer we put on this house we want...so...every penny needed.

other news...pretty excited for monday to come. that will be one whole week of drying. then snip snip and into jars. when do i take the weight? before jarring? or once in the jar for a week...?

and just to clarify, once in the jars, burp once a week for about an hour?

Burping somewhat depends on the moisture content of the bud, but yes, once a week for an hour is pretty standard. I tend to take weight twice - after the dry once I've cut the buds off the stems, and again after a few weeks cure if I haven't smoked too much of it by then. You'll technically loose ~1-3% weight during cure but in generally it's pretty unnoticeable so either before or after cure is generally ok.

put a humidity gauge in the jar you put the bud in then burp when the humidity rises above 50% ??? i think 50% is where you want it during the cure

everything i have read is that the humidity needs to be 55% or better for curing I hung mine for 5 days then put them into jars and so far so good been staying at 57%humidity in my jars and i am happy with that for sure the buds smell sweet and fruity i cant wait till they are ready to smoke.

word yeah they have been hanging in the basement in the smallest cab, which is a 2x2x2 foot cube. the box has passive ventilation, a 4 inch hole top center and 2 - 1.25 inch intakes, one on each side. the temp in the basement has been around 60 degrees and probably around 50 percent humidity.

they definitely seemed to have shrunken since i chopped on monday. also, the smell is more just, idk plenty than skunky or weed like. is this bad? it seemed to be well covered in trichs but...can they have lots of trichs and low potency?

suggestions?

Potency is too subjective of a term. Yes you can have lots of trichs with little THC but it's unlikely unless you harvested way too early. The smell will improve as you cure as will the high.

gotcha. yeah it smells like grass. lol. guess i see where THAT term comes from...

it smells like grass because there is still chlorophyl in the plant matter. thats what the dry/cure process is for is to remove all that "fresh cut grass" smell

i was so dissapointed with my first harvest. i started trimming my main cola and gave it a big ole whiff and it smelled like SHIT!! i was like WTF did i do wrong here lol. but after a few weeks of dry/cure it was pretty good

lol yeah thats pretty much what mine smells like. its not really getting all that dry either...seemingly at least. after one week of hanging it should be fairly crispy no?

oh and matt yeah man i would definitely wait another week. looks like it could fatten up a fair amount. looks amazing though.

i DID replant all my babies so now theyre in their big pots. thinking about getting bigger pots. also want to do hydro still. soon.

5 gallon nursery pots would work well, got a 60-100x scope today 12 bucks at radio shack works killer!! the triches are 1/2 clouds 1/2 clear and a few amber. i gave last watering with a couple tsp of molases so hopefully in a week she is ready. i have 2 clones i need to repot into bigger planters but no room untill the hobbit leaves the shire

oh and drying does take a long time but bve patient they will dry out, you dont want them drying rediculesly fast anyways. but too slow can cause mold issues, maybe try putting a slight breeze across them with a PC fan or something

not a bad idea...i will have to work on that. i think i have a fan that will work, gotta find a phone charger i can mutilate...
