first grow couple of general questions on my two Lil ladies about a month in.

Hey whoever views this thread I appreciate you taking the time and would love some advice as this is my second grow actually first batch got fried by me not being patient and adding nutes too soon. So right now my plants have been vegging for I believe close to a month. I picked them up as Clones. For light right now I'm using a 300wcfl for the two plants. I'm using happy frog soil as a medium and up until this point have not added nutes. On my next water I will probably add very minimal nutes (botanicare). My first question is right now I have them in 1 gallon pots and I planned on transitioning them to 3 gallons soon and then finish them w 5 gallons for flower. Now when I transition them if I use fresh soil of happy farm if I add nutes right away will the plants burn from too many nutes. I ask because the happy frog soil already has nutrients in it so I don't want to overload them. Or I could use the existing soil its in now? Second question is on flushing. What is flushing and is it necessary? Last q is do my plants look OK my theory is they def need nutes which I will be providing on my next water. thanks for reading I'm typing mobile so hope its legible. Any opinions a suggestions are welcome here. Cheers. (Having issues getting the pics on here from the mobile will get them on later.)

This is my first grow also been going great up untill 4 days ago when I first started them on the bio biz started getting a lot of yellow leaves at the bottom after seeking advice I was told to increase the amount of water so I have but still the yellow leave still appere.wondering if this is burn from the bio.the girles r now 5 weeks oldimage.jpg

Thanks for the reply greenhouse. Your girls look pretty healthy to me but obviously I'm the wrong person to ask lol. Yea I just added the botanicare to mine as they hit a stunt in growth hoping that solves it. I think as long as you go really light w the. Bio biz you should be OK when I killed my first batch its because I pit in the recommended amount should have put in like 1/4 that.

To start off I'm not a soil grower, I use DWC, and coco otherwise. But, those plants, IMO do not need any nutes. Usually with soil you won't need nutrients for a good while since the medium contains some already, and some FF soil tends to be a bit hot (very nutrient rich already) so adding more nutes will only cause issues. I would suggest sticking to only feeding with water that is PH'd to 6.5-7.0 (this is very important as it will prevent your plant from being able to uptake nutes if your ph is off) until your plant begins to show slight signs of deficiency, those are your indicators that your plants need more nutes. Many people feed before this, but since it is your first grow I suggest waiting until your plants tell you they need more than risk adding to early. It already seems like your plants are exhibiting a case of slight nutrient burn, possibly nitrogen toxicity is what it looks like. You can tell because your leafs are very dark, the tips are slightly yellow, pointing down at the tip, and curled down around the serrated edges. Also I bet they feel a bit rough, their texture isn't what it should be. W
When transplanting move the soil you have in the current container into the next one as well, gently break the roots up a bit if they are root bound, and add more soil as necessary.
Flushing is what you do when you make an error (and at the end of the plants life before harvest). You can search about it online and easily find tons of results. Essentially if you mess up (like burning your plants reallyy bad) you can go ahead and run a lot of plain ph'd water through your medium in order to leech out the excess salts. The salt build up can cause ph and nutrient lock out issues. "Is it necessary?" This is very controversial, but generally most people believe so. If you always use a light amount of nutes very minimal flushing is needed as you've provided your plant with nutrients in the correct doses, so it is able to eat the nutes at the same rate you are applying them. This prevents a build up of salts, if there isn't an excessive build up, than a huge flush isn't needed. Your fan leafs are essentially nutrient reservoirs, if they uptake too much, it is stored there. That is why you get the burnt tips. I hope I've answered your questions fully. I tried to explain myself as much as possible since it is your first go at it and I'm not sure if you're familiar with all the terminology. Best of luck,

Thanks for the post rekoj you definitely helped me out I guess growing these plants isn't as ez as I thought it would be. There's so many varying opinions on the internet its hard to know what's right or wrong. I did add light nutes last night some botanicare w water and their lookin better. Appreciate you breakn down the basics for me I think the best thing I can do is take things slow and learn from experience. So well see lol. Thanks again Cheers man.

if nutes are confusing go with the general organics G.O. Box its pretty much nutes for beginners hard to mess up and has instructions on the side from 1st day of veg to last day of flower
best part is all the nutes u need and only around 40 bux but I would add snowstorm ultra in the last 2 weeks

lights too close not enough o2 to roots if there is no burn or spots
