Well, I have been doing a lot of research and building for the past few weeks and just about finished my first grow room! As I usually do with my hobbies, I tend to go a little overboard. Here is what I have set up:
Veg room:
- one 4'x2' hydro tray with drip system setup and 18 gal reservoir.
- three 4' t12 flouro fixtures, total-6 cool white bulbs, 240watts total.
- two 65w flouro fixtures and 1' x 2' drip system tray for mothers
- all walls lined with mylar, oscillating fan
- 2 15a 7 event digital timers - 1 for hydro system, one for lights
- air pump and stone in reservoir
flowering room:
- 4' x 4' hydro tray with ebb and flow set up and 54 gallon reservoir
- 430w HPS grow light set up above middle of tray
- two 4' flouro fixtures with one cool white and one warm light bulb each set up on sides for side lighting 160w for a 590w flower room total.
- airconditioner with digital thermostat, oscillating fan.
- 2 15a 7 event digital timers - 1 for hydro system, one for lights
- exhaust fan, and mylar on all walls
- air pump and stone in reservoir
still waiting on an ehxaust blower and charcoal filter that my buddy is going sell me since he no longer grows.
What do you guys think of the set up? any suggestions? I built it in a loft above my garage. the total room is probably about 10' x 8'.
I am getting some clones from a grower here in town. I think he's going to get me some purple clones cheap.
QUESTIONS:
1) I still need to buy nutrients, I am a little short on cash after building this room, but I know nutes are the worst place to go cheap. That being said, what nutes would you suggest for my set up. everything is 100% hydro and will be grown in rockwool cubes. I am willing to spend about $100 on nutrients. My main concern is finding a basic nutrient package that has everything the plants need to grow well without having dozens of different products to mess with. I am sure I'll get there later, but for my first few grows, I want to keep it simple without sacrificing much.
2) should I keep the flouro bulbs in the vegging room as all cool whites or add some warm whites or full spectrum as well?
3) Is it worth the extra money to buy hydro PH down, or is vinegar just as good?
4) I have a 10lb CO2 tank from my beer brewing stuff. I will probably set up a CO2 system soon, but how worth it is it for a small op like mine? the place is well ventilated and has a continuous supply of outside air. Should I bother?
Thanks guys, this forum has been a big help, and I hope to have some valuable contributions and good news in the near future. Now I just have to get the clones and set up an appointment with the doc to get my medical card.
