First Grow w/ LED (Lots of Pics)

Hi Guys,

I have a t-5 / LEDs setup also and one of my seedlings is missing an entire grow shoot. I was wondering if this had something to do with the leds?
Yeah the crazy leaves we were talking about are shown with Lowryder #2's. It's just a phenotype that is shown in the strain.

Just got back from a trip. The Lowryders were showing sex, and we ended up with 2 boys and 4 girls. We are going to make seeds our next try so we axed the boys. Also, we have another large plant showing female. So we have at least 7 females total.

What kind of problems does this look like? We have this developing on a few of our older plants. There is what looks kind of like some type of pests eating the leaves. But the only thing we have are some gnats which we are controlling. There are also brown spots, and some yellowing of lower old leaves with green veins. Lately we were using PH'ed tap water, but now we got some distilled water to rule that out. We have been using 1tsp/gal of epsom salts every other watering, maybe using nutes too often. We don't see any of these problems from the lowryders yet.

The last two pictures were directly opposite each other, and were at the bottom of our plant number 5. Which is the very indica looking plant. These were two of the oldest leaves on the plant. After the pictures we trimmed them off.

when you finish this grow, you should write a big post about what you've learned about LED growing.. i'm dying to know if they do anything / how they compare to other methods of lighting.

it may be overwatering.....give them some time to dry out....I dont see any yellowing so water shouldn't be the answer

mr. nroth may have something different to add, but i'll tell you what i've learned about led growing:

it's not a bad idea, but to do it the right way with 100% leds would require many times more leds than we have. we've got 12 cfls in there right now that are responsible for a majority of the emitted light. the 24 3w (i think they're 3w) leds are just not enough to grow the number we have. the leds were the namesake of the thread at a very early stage but quickly were switched over to a supplementary role once we figured out that the light didn't seem sufficient.

i'd say to do it effectively would require 10 times the number we have, judging by how the plants behave. (the plants obviously grow towards the cfls which to me is at least slight proof that they're more effective.)

i was wathing mythbusters the other day..... they told me led's are the way to go...... ah hahaha and that they'll last 10-20 years.... the myth was wether or not is cost more electricity to start up your lights or to just let em stay on when you leave the room.

we started the 12-12 schedule for the original (bag seed) plants and out of the 8 baggies, 6 are female, 1 male, and one runt that's still keeping it a secret. that puts the number of females up to 10. pretty good ratio if you ask me... counting ALL we started with (including the early bag seed runts) we had 18, with 10 being female, with 4 of 6 lr2's being female and 6 of the 8 surviving originals being female.

Sorry for no updates, been really busy lately. The bagseed plants have been in flowering for 3.5 weeks now, and the lowryders have been flowering for about the same amount of time. The lowryders are at about week 6, with 3 weeks left, but we had a problem with nitrogen deficiency and I think they got severely stunted and aren't going to produce much. These pictures are of the bagseed(6 total), minus number 2, which is a large sativa looking plant that is in the corner with it's own light fixture due to it's extreme height difference compared to the rest.

These were all pictures from my phone, plus I didn't get any of the lowryders, so I'll try to post some good pictures in the next couple days.

Right at four weeks into flowering for the 6 main plants.

This bottom row is of our largest, sativa looking plant. It's almost twice as tall as the next tallest plant, which I put a picture of it beside the sativa to show the height difference. The sativa is much thinner looking, and is taking longer to flower but seems to be coming along.

7.5 weeks in on the lowryder #2. These were stunted by nute deficiency and PH, from poor soil. We will be starting some more here soon.
