The story:
this started from a batch of 10 feminized seeds, Barney's Farm Blue cheese.
They were germinated in wet tissue for 48 hours at 25 degrees, 8 in 10 opened up and showed a small root. When this was about 3 mm, they were transferred into pre-soaked (Vitalink start, ec 0.3 mS/cm) sbs cubes. These small cubes were slighlty squeezed to get rid of the excess water and kept warm under CFL 125W 24/0.
Within a few days, the plant in the picture is the ONLY one that sprouted out of these seeds. I waited one week and then ripped apart the other cubes to see what was going on inside. The root never went over those initial 3 mm, it just died out, becoming brownish. Poor genetics? Temperature? they were kept at constant 25°C and 70% rh.
The "survivor" plant looked healthy though, I didn't have the guts to throw it away (after what I paid for those seeds, no comment on the financial side) and I kept it. It looked really healty, after 1 week the roots popped out from the bottom and I then transferred to a big grodan cube, to get ready for NFT.
I kept watering it at regular intervals, once a day, with vitalink plant start, total ec 0.7 (my tap water is 0.5), squeezing the excess liquid and keeping it wet.
The growth seemed fairly slow though, compared to other crops I've seen in the past, I remember hydro wilma to have the "Wow!" effect because of the impressive growth rates.
A few days ago, when the picture was taken, I noticed there was a fair amount of rooting at the bottom and transferred it to the NFT system.
During this operation I noticed a slight wrinkle on one of the leaves, as well as some small yellowish patches which I think might be due to light burn. The plant has been exposed to 24 hours of light for 2 weeks, CFL 125W 6,400°K. The bulb was at about 6-7 inches from the young seedling, and temperature was constant about 25-27 degrees.
The tank is 20 litres, I filled it up with tap water + vitalink grow half dosage, total Ec is about 1.1 and ph 6.0. It's been 3 days now (the picture is taken at day 14 from sprouting) and it seems to be ok but I don't see any growth yet.
Considering the amount of growth you can see in the picture (DAY 14 just positioned in NFT tank) and those small patches, do you think this is a healthy plant on a normal course of growth or there is some sort of issue with it? Many thanks and happy growing everyone
