First Time Grow (indoor/autos)

Almost done converting an attic closet into my grow space.

For the first grow, I am going with only 2 plants, both from seeds I obtained from Seedsman.

Lemon Auto (F)
&
American Pie Auto (F)

Based on what I found to be the general consensus, I'm going to germinate by soaking in water until they pop, then move it to Midas Hyrdo Rooting plugs. If anyone has a better method, I'm not germing until next week, so let me know.

How big is the space? I would highly recommend a better light than that.

Maxsisun or Viparspecrta has decent lights at a good price. Look for actual watts at the wall, not what they claim. Make sure they also have quality drivers and diodes.

My grow space is 15 ft² but I'm only starting with 2 autoflowers in that space. Regarding the light I couldn't agree with you more. I plan on upgrading as soon as I can (hopefully before I flower) but my buddy recommended this one for a cheap option to start with. He had used it for a couple smaller tent grows and measured 150 "watts at the wall" with both "Bloom" and "Veg" switches engaged. I'm hoping that will be enough for the 2 autos to get started at least.

I planted a auto last week and my advice is to plant the auto into the final pot and medium. Since autos have a short lifespan you always want to try and reduce the chance of stress. After I put it in the dirt I cover the seed area with a clear container to trap moisture in and create a greenhouse effect. Once the seed breaks through I leave that on for another day or 2 before she’s just exposed to my tents environment.

I would try to switch up that blurple light. Look in the best deals thread. Might be able to find something for pretty cheap but would increase yields and overall production.

Would probably need like 6 of those light for a 4x4 space. I would at least get 2. 1 for each plant

You should really replace that light with something from the 2020s asap

With Autos, the clock is ticking from germination, any time spent under a weak blurple will effect your final results.

Basically this!

You generally want at least 30-35w per square foot of growing area. Also, you want better lights, maybe some board using either Samsung LM301H LEDs or LM301B LEDs.

Everybody is saying this to you because those Blurple lights (Blue and Purple) are worse performers per watt than almost any other board type light you can find in the Best Deals thread or on Amazon.

Well it seems like my instinct to join an active internet weed forum as I am getting ready for this grow was right. There really isn't a better option when seeking some honest advice in a timely manner, so first off, thank you to everyone who pointed out the terrible Amazon purchase I made. I really should have done some research first, but its all good, that's why I'm here now. I'm going to start shopping around and see if I can find a good deal on something a bit better. I haven't started germinating my beans yet, so the only real rush is my own impatience. I'm thinking I'll have like $150 as a budget, which I'm hoping is enough to get me started. I thought about just getting another cheap one for now and upgrading before my next grow, but I know I'll hate myself in 5 or 6 weeks when it was time to start flowering. Well damn, I guess I'm on the hunt for a new light. I do have a question though, would the light I have be sufficient enough to use in a clone room or even anywhere honestly?

Obviously it would be an improvement, but is that worth it, or should I wait till I can spend a little more on something better??

Thank you for explaining Blurple to me, because at first I was confused as hell and was pretty close to looking it up.

I'm gonna try and avoid getting another but thank you for the advice. Leaves me with a question though, Is growing only the 2 plants in a space that size okay to do, other than the waste of space during that grow?

I would look at the estimated coverage area on xs1000 and see if that will fit your designated grow space. The xs2000 is perfect for my 2'x4'

Only a waste of space if your not gonna have enough light to fill it.

Did you start your grow? My first ever auto has taken off in the last 10 days.

Love Pyramid Seeds American Pie strain. Grew once in my tent and growing again outdoors as we speak (feminized photoperiod seeds) If it pops, you should love this strain. It had a very healthy flowering stretch of 2x its original height, at least.
