No only add more nutes when you add more water, res changes is when you should add more nutes. I wouldnt even mess with hydro without a PH/PPM pen especially for a newb grower you are gonna have to go by what your plant looks like which isnt that easy for beginners.Good luck.

I have to disagree. I think starting without all the bells and whistles is the best way to learn.
 
it has been fun but im getting anxious now lol driving my wife crazy.....noticed a little yellowing at the tips took ppm down to 1300
