Fixing to Grow 60 Day Wonder White Dwarf Auto and Auto Fuel

Thanks Philosophist. Didn't break any records here, but I am very happy to have this little crop. I am guessing 4oz between the two plants.

The smoke is wonderful! A delicious Indica high and very potent. When I planted these Greenomatics, I figured they wouldn't be as good as a photoperiod plant but I would get something quick. But these girls have completely changed my mind about autos. I am going to grow this again soon. I want more of this stuff.

A caution about autos. This auto bidniss is still very new and there are some very flaky strains out there. The Greenomatics did great but I have an autoflower Oil plant that is a real disappointment so far. Check it out carefully and pick a solid strain.

ya for sure i will. I want to grow a few regular photoperiod strains, and try out a few Autos for scientific research^^ I had always heard that the smoke was less potent, but im glad to hear otherwise. Any other Auto strains that you would recommend?

This is my first grow with autos. I am just discovering them. Last time I was growing, anything to do with lowryder was considered junk. Things have changed! Autos still don't get the same respect as photos but IMO they have a big future.

Next up in my closet is a White Dwarf from Buddha. Looks to be a nice harvest, perhaps equal to the 2 Gmatics. She has 9 8" colas forming. Should fill in over then next few weeks. They say this strain is very potent. Looks like she will take about 3 months seed to harvest which is about par for a photo Indica. Not all autos are super fast. Some even have very long flowering times.

One of the nice things about autos is you can throw one in your closet regardless of the light schedule the other plants are using.

and 4 oz from 2 plants is pretty good i though ya?? a qp is nice man ill be super happy if i get that from mine
Yeah it will keep the wolf away from the door for a little while :)

Did some LST on the White Dwarf. Nothing agressive. Just moving cola's around for more even light. She is doing great in her new 5ga 'aerobucket'. Yellowing has stopped or slowed way down. There is some of subcools supersoil in the bottom of the container. Colas are starting to fill in I guess another 3 weeks.

She has 9 colas like this one below. If they fill in could be a nice yield.

I must admit, when I LST'ed the WD I trimmed off some suckers with fluffy buds on them. Not recommended with autos but couldnt bear to see them on the plant. Tonight we smoked some of these trimmings. I didn't think it worth it but my gf wanted to try it. It was pretty strong and a really nice Indica high.

@Jesus: The accepted wisdom with autos is that they run on a fixed clock. Any time spent recovering from pruning means time taken away from the plant's total lifetime. This is my first grow with autos so I dunno but they say they do best if you mess with them as little as possible. I did do some LST but this was the first time I cut anything at all.

hmmm... interesting. i was considering trying some auto flowers out here soon, but im just not sold on them. but now that you say that i would like to compare harvests on 2 plants one trimmed and one left untouched just to see what difference and how big of a difference it makes

It crossed my mind to do that too but I don't see how I could do it in my setup. The ideal test would be a side by side with clones but that's not possible with autos. Growing from seed means you also have phenotype differences to deal with. This could be offset by increasing the numbers and growing a group with and another without trimming but I only grow about six plants at a time.

From my limited experience with this grow, I suspect there is more to an auto's lifetime than simply running on a fixed clock. They can't be controlled by photoperiod but that doesn't mean they are necessarily on a rigid schedule.

sure fire way to keep from getting busted, live by this motto: no sell and no tell, no show and happily they grow
haha i musta been stoned, i meant to say "no smell, no sell, no tell...no show and happily they grow." <~~that is the motto to live by.

Obviously you can not sell or tell about your grow, but if your grow op is stinking up the neighborhood, it wont be long before johnny law comes knockin'

i appologize for my misinformation

wow, im sure there is a way to clone an auto flower to eliminate the pheno variable. im going to have to look into it some more. this could be a potential experiment in a subsequent grow. man im soooo intrigued by the cannabis plant!

@Jesus:

I'd love to hear the results of any experiments you do. I suspect there is a fair amount of myth or exaggeration mixed in with what people say about autos, but I am not set up to test any of this.

I am told that with autos, you can in fact clone a cutting but it will be on the same clock as mom and flower at the same time.

I am not sure what autos do after flowering since I harvest them at that point. If it's a true annual it would die at the end of the season. I might keep one going with a bit of green after harvest just to see.

I think all this 'auto' info is less cut and dried (har har) than people make out. I have one auto that flowered almost a month behind schedule, so something messed with her clock. Another, now going on 3 months, has been 'starting to set buds' for over a month. I just put her in the closet for 48hrs dark. Seems to me there's more to it than just these simple rules.

Added later:

I've just started lurking in the autoflower forum. This is an interesting post. I read that Stitch is a 'top auto breeder' (in holland I think)

Update:

Out of town for a week. My gf watered the plants in my absence. One seedling died. Dunno what happened. It was doing great when I left. I suspect she got confused about watering. I can't be sure. No big deal. It was a Nirvana Ice from very old seed. I have more.

Good news is that the White Dwarf which was almost completely yellow, turned green again!! I'd been struggling with this problem. N def? Cal Mag def? Root bound? Transplanting & epsom salts helped just a bit. The day before I left town I started adding some Ph UP to their water. She continued with the ph up and it turned around in a few days.

If the ph is off, I guess you will see all sorts of deficiency symptoms from nute lock that aren't really the basic problem.

Anyway, Ms Dwarf is doing very nicely, colas are filling out. Leaves are getting sugary. I am confident she will produce a nice yield. (I'm guessing 10days). We smoked some of the fluff I trimmed and it was kickass.

Update:

White Dwarf is filling out nicely in her 5ga airybucket! I am guessing 10 days. Her leaves which were mostly bright yellow reverted to green within 48hrs of doing a ph adjustment. I've never seen that happen before. Usually yellow leaves are lost. There is some yellowing but it's now about right for a plant in this stage of flowering.

I have been trimming yellow & yellowing leaves that shade budsites. Not sure if this is something one should do to autos, but couldn't help myself.

Olive Oil is still stuck right on the cusp of flowering. She is in a dark (not lightproof) closet for 48 hrs. If that doesn't work, I am going to switch to 12/12 soon when my photo period c99 goes in the closet. She can hang around until someone needs her spot at which time she will be made into hash.

Surprisingly, when I opened the closet door to check, there was a distinct smell of chocolate.

Some nice colas. There are 8 or 9 colas about this size or a bit smaller. Should be nice.

I found this

hi chron sorry to hear about your seeds but believe me you aint missing anything with those autofem seeds ive just completed a grow with there three fem plants one of each and results were well they are the poorest most unstable auto's ive grown and ive been growing auto's now for 2.5 years with great results.i grew these exact same way as my lowryder2 easyryder dieselryder ive also grown lowlife auto's as well these autofem are no where near as good waste of money if you ask me.they all produced very poor bud without much thc and they also were very leafy.when growing jd's auto ak i got 7oz of three plants dried and trimmed off this auto ak i got half o of crap quality bud auto fuel 10 gramms dried trimmed and as for bigbud auto big plant big buds no thc unless you look under microscope none of them realy worth smoking.i grow in dwc with 600watt grolux light and advanced nutes same as always and these are far far the worst seeds ive come across and after 15 auto grows i can safely say

KEEP AWAY FROM AUTOFEM SEEDS THEY ARE NOT WORTH BUYING

Pasted from <http://www.420magazine.com/forums/completed-journals/97100-autofem-auto-oil-lr-x-chem-dawg-w-o-s-pure-afghan-kush-landrace-phase-r-d-2.html>
So this one is not my fault. Olive Oil was born a bitch!

The WD is about a month behind schedule in flowering but that may be because of the PH issue.

It's also possible that the GMatics suffered some from this problem. If so, it's testimony to the fact that these are robust, easy to grow plants

Update. A shave and a haircut.

I decided that since Olive Oil is acting like a photo plant, she get's treated like one. She was a dense bundle of large fan leaves. Over the course of several days, I took off all the large fans and a bunch of smalls ones too and then pruned all the little suckers down below.

IMG_5012.jpg

Here's the salad I took off her. On the right are the suckers I trimmed. They are wet because I've been curing them in water (they have some potency so I thought I would try this)

IMG_5015.jpgIMG_5016.jpg

High stress LST: While trying to pull one of the main branches over it just snapped off! @#$! But I tied it back place and taped it over. The branch is doing fine with no sign of distress.

IMG_5013.jpg

These could be buds. Maybe she is really starting to set buds? Perhaps she is really going to make some dope? Feh! She's done this before. Just enough to raise your hopes then it stalls. She's a fucking cock teaser! You'd better put out bitch! Another hand job and you are cannabutter!

And some bud porn:

I just figured out how to shoot pix through a magnifying lens. Couldn't resist some pix of Ms White Dwarf.

This is the cola on the main stem. She's been pulled over by LST and the others are comparable but she is still the biggest.

IMG_5039.jpg

IMG_5034.jpgIMG_5031.jpgIMG_5033.jpg

Colors are a bit warmer/redder in the pix than they appear to my eye. She looks more ripe in the pix than she does when I examine her. Going to take something off her this coming weekend

Update:

I harvested Ms White Dwarf today. Looks like 3+ oz.

Smoke Report Greenomatic:

Greenomatic/Greenhouse Seeds

2 plants FFOF soil 3ga pots. 600W HPS. FN nutes.
Plants grew robustly. Stayed very small until the stretch and then grew explosively. Final height would be 12-18" but these were LST'ed.
Harvested at 60, 67 & 75 days. First harvest date was a bit early. Total yield from 2 plants estimated by eyeball, about 4oz.

The high is a classical Indica body euphoria. Quite energetic. You feel like doing stuff. It is quite potent but lifts you up gently without an initial kick. Lasts several hours.

The taste is slightly sweet and fruity. Smoke is mild and can even be smoked before curing without any coughing.

There is some tolerance build up but it's not rapid or extreme.

Sadly a chunk of this harvest was lost to mold during curing. My assistant, who was in charge of the curing, was inexperienced and let it stay too moist. That's how you learn. I doubt it will happen again. However, it's not lost. It can make honey oil or bubble hash. I made a bit of oil by washing it in acetone and it was very nice. The high is much the same as the original weed.

Right now my stash consists of Blueberry, Sour Diesel, Mango & Green-o-matic. The GMatic is my fave.

Update: White Dwarf Harvest.

Ms White Dwarf was harvested last Wed. Here is the yield partly dried ( T Rex included for scale )

I eyeball that as about 4oz. What do you say? A very nice yield for any plant never mind an auto. She took about 3mos from seed to harvest so in time and yield she was about par with a photoperiod Indica.

Early sampling a couple of weeks ago suggests this stuff will be potent!

This stuff is not very smelly. Some odor during drying. Not much during flowering and it's fading now that it's dry

I left the lower suckers on the plant to give them a chance to get some light.

The cab goes 12/12 today. I am putting in the C99's (Dr Greenthumb $20/ seed). Perhaps that will kick Olive Oil into full flower mode. If not, I have my bubble bags now :)

The cab will be a dedicated flower room from now on. I have my little veg area under cfls and this is working out nicely. The C99's vegged with nice tight nodes.

The Remains Of The Day. I estimate over 1/2oz still left on her

looking good man. whats the purpose for having so many holes in your containers? i have used 5 gal buckets before, but never had it swiss cheesed out like your buckets, lol. i usually put a heap of holes in the bottom bout 3 in. of the bucket then leave the rest solid. Did you just drill a 5 gal bucket with a 1/2 paddle bit or buy it like that? you seen those new smart pots??? same concept....they are like felt grow bags.

I got the buckets very cheap because they leaked! LOL!

Yeah I drilled them out with a 1/2" spade bit. I seem to have had an overwatering problem and I thought this might help. The roots structure on the two Greenomatics I harvested did not look so great. I've been experimenting with superoots airpots so I thought I would try the idea on my buckets. As you would expect they are a PITA to water. With the airpots you can pack the soil tight against the holes and this stops leaking out the sides. Nevertheless I think they are doing the job. I'm going to look at the roots on Ms White Dwarf before tossing her out.

Cab's on 12/12 now. Let's see what Olive Oil does.

I am tempted to buy a scale to get accurate weights but I hear that having a scale in the house can be considered evidence of intent to sell.
