Does anyone know a good method on removing the globe? Can I improve the lights growing potential by doing this? I say this cause the globe is not completely clear, I am sure it blocks some light. I am using 4 of these 9.5w warm white bulbs for side lighting and under canopy bud sites.

I heard heating the entire globe to about 200F melts the glue enough to simply twist it off. I am afraid this method will damage some shit inside.cree without bulb.jpg

Hey mehriffic, 170 for about 6 or 7 minutes will do it. Just twist it off, but be careful when you remove the globe because you can shave some of the phosphors off. So twist then lift. Good Luck. Removing the globe can help but I feel that you need some kind of reflector to really benefit. But it does break the 10 year warranty so your call. I take them off btw.

Another way that works well for me is just to leave the bulb on for a while until the heatsink heats up. Then with oven mitts on, grab the heatsink and the globe, and take the globe off with a firm twisting/prying motion.

After 15 days she's grown 31 inches so yesterday was only 1 inch, not sure if she's slowing on her own or if the super cropping finally did it. Two of her mains are about 3 inches taller than the rest so I super cropped just those tonight.

While I am first to say a lot of great results is because of us knowing how to feed/care for mj, but damn, that light is bringin it

Have you thought to lower it? It might be just outside their sweet spot, and they keep reaching for it. Sort of like us looking for ideal amount of sun, so as not to burn but to replenish our oft deficient vitamin D3 reserves

Thanks Pet but I think it's just this pheno. I can't find any detailed description of the differences in the phenos of Critical Kush but for the sativa dominate one in the general description says it's long,stretched with little side branching. I would also like to know the differences in flower time,yield,strength,taste and smell but haven't found that info. I started with the lights closer but her speed of growth has made me raise the lights a extra 3 or 4 inches, the tops are still only 7 to 10 inches away from the bulbs plus I have some side lighting but when she slows down I'll be able to get them closer.

No stretch on the 2 tallest mains yesterday, good thing because I only had 2 inches of chain left on my hood before I had to start changing things to get the last few inches in my cabinet.


She's bleeding from where I super cropped her.

Sorry forgot about that.Here's a link to Rrog's recipe that I'm switching to with 15 gal pots that you just put a new plant into the pot after you harvest and amend the soil every cycle.

My old recipe is close to that but lacking a couple items and subbing a couple.
I used blood meal instead of fish meal.
I used azomite in place of his rock dust combo.
I didn't use bio-char,gypsum,oyster,crab or the BTI and nematodes.
Instead of 1/3 EWC I used 1/6 EWC and 1/6 organic cow manure compost.

If you still want my recipe I can PM it to you if you let me know but I think Rrog's is superior,that's why I'm switching.

Thanks Rrog, the ROLS link was to just show the concept of living soil and not dumping your pot every cycle.
I imagine there is a 1000 recipes that will grow great smoke.

Thanks captain............Yeah Rrog already pm's me his great recipe (very helpful/friendly guy), but its quite extensive unfortunately and don't see myself acquiring all that's needed. Was hoping for a more "streamlined"or simpler version TBH.......got to look at it again when I get home.

Any experience with growstones(glass) or pumice as a perlite substitute?

No but I'm also tempted to try the growstone, I talked to one of their people at the garden expo and have some small samples. It is quite durable compared to perlite which is delicate and easily broken down. Just not sure I can justify the cost difference, $15 for 4 CF of perlite vs $30 for 2 CF of growstone, I need to check into the pumice. I might tho because if I go ROLS it's a longer term use.

I've had very good results with lava rock, but some does slough off. Doesn't seem to affect pH and is pretty cheap. Roots love it, they cling to it like cobwebs. Sorry, I had already pulled the LR away
