Airport xrays will read right through that. They work on colors dependent upon organic and non organic material.Get a Carmex container. Empty it out, fill it with some fire wax. Put a lair of carmex back on top of the container. Remove the carmex once you land and are out of the plane. No one is going to detect that.

TSA: can u come down here and arrest BWG707 please we busted him with 10 grams of medical cannabis hidden in his luggage
SFPD:LOL
Its not so much that. It would be a big hassle and I'd probably miss my flight. Not a good way to start a vacation.
If it was buds maybe. But you're talking about xrays reading the difference between plant wax and petroleum wax. I don't think they are that sophisticated. Either way, I've flown out of SFO like that several times and have never had a problem. I know a lot of people who bring bud through SFO without issue.
I just don't think taking stuff out of SFO is a problem. I've done it several times as do a lot of people I know. Never heard of anyone having an issue.

They are that sophisticated. It all weighs on the retard sitting in the chair and if they are paying attention or not. The colors change dependent on what is inside.
Blue equals hard materials. Metal (blue/black), hard plastics, alloys etc. For example, your gun or your metal knife will show up as blue or black or a mix. So will wires, your sunglasses case, batteries, etc.
Orange is biological material. Anything that is natural, that is, and some things that arent. Rubber, leather, food, dynamite and other explosives (except plastique, that will turn slightly blueish), all liquids and gels and organic powders (like flour, for example).
Green is for plastics and alloys, where the density isnt great enough to make it blue or black. This can also be ceramics, though only the densest of them. Normally, ceramics (think ceramic knives) will show up as orange.

You will notice there are organic materials put into the shaving cans and whatnot to show the xray will see through it and identify it. The safest way is to make a culero and shit it out when you arrive. I have crossed many borders and most were international so I know what I am talking about.
Guidotti said the amount of weed was not necessarily the problem, as California law doesn't specify how much marijuana a legitimate patient can possess. The brief trip and the elaborate packaging is what raised red flags.
"Transportation isn't specifically covered in the law; we're actually trying to get that changed," Komp said. "We recommend an ounce or less flying because that's more defensible for medical use."
Medical marijuana patients have been able to fly domestically with their medicine when leaving several California airports as long as they are carrying 8 ounces or less of dried marijuana or equivalent in cannabis product (theCalifornia state legal limit for medical marijuana). You may not, however, fly with marijuana plants.

If drug-sniffing dogs are present and their handler has prompted them to sniff for cannabis, they will smell it no matter how crafty you think you're being. Period. What happens next is a crap shoot. Not worth it, IMHO.
I've been on lots of planes and I've never been sniffed for a dog. Also it's debatable whether or not dogs are trained to sniff solvent extracts. Also what are they going to charge you with? Having less than an ounce? That's just a ticket. Also, it's San Francisco and they aren't going to do shit.
