Ok , so I was in my room the other day and had to unplug my bubbler for a moment but of course being the stoner I am I forgot to pulg it back in:wall:. The next day when I realized I ran in and reconnected it. A few hours later I walked in to my room to find a foul odor(gross). I opened my 5g res (bucket from home depo) and found foam on the top layer. I of course dumped it and washed it out with dish soap and restarted. Today when I walked in it smelled fine but there was still a bit of foam ,nothing like the other day but still present. Do you think maybe the bacteria stuck in my tubing from my bubbler? I did run some soapy water through them. I'm using DNF 8-2-3 hydro-organic-based with a lil barricade as ph up, room temp is around 73min-78max and I keep my res rite in front of my air conditioner to help keep the temp down and in my case I don't think that's the issue. I'm going to try useing WipeOut grow room cleaner on my res this time. Any thoughts????

Do you think the soap is harmfull?
No, just not really necessary. You can kill whatever it is with hydrogen peroxide. You can also get some 'Pythoff' from the hydroponic store to kill whatever it is. Alternatively you can make your own pythoff by adding 100 ML of clorox bleach (no synthetic or scented bleach, just pure chlorine bleach) to 1 gallon of distilled water. Give them this at 3/4 of a cup for every 50 gallons of solution the first day, then a half cup per 50 gallons every other day afterward. That will kill any bacteria that is haunting your system.

You can also add bleach directly to the reservoir but be VERY careful if you do so. 1 teaspoon per 50 gallons of solution and err on the side of caution.

Flairform charges something like $10 for a 1 quart bottle of RO water with a few cents of Chlorox added to it sold as Pythoff. Save your money.

hygrozyme has worked for me in this department.

Hygrozyme prevents the formation of pythium and algae in any growing medium. Bacteria-free enzymes break down proteins allowing plants better access to nutrients released in the process. All-natural Hygrozyme is 100% effective guaranteed with an unlimited shelf life.

At the risk of sounding stupid ,what is Hygrozyme?

i use pondzyme, it is a beneficial bacteria that makes amazing roots and keeps res in check. it is much cheaper than specific hydro brands.
