attitudes on marriage equality have shifted tremendously in his terms, and his minority-majority coalitions brought whites and minorities together in record numbers, handing him two easy landslide victories.

I'm honestly intrigued by right wingers say things like this. When you imply that Obama has somehow been racially divisive, what are you basing this on? I'd be interested in hearing a few examples his divisiveness. My guess is that it simply boils down to "He's black and I don't like him, so that makes him divisive.". Please feel free to refute this assessment.

No, I think you need to decide what "public institution" means. Also you've conflated what I believe.

A thing cannot simultaneously be two opposing things at once. If it is privately owned, it can't also be a "public institution".

What I don't believe, is people should not all have access to OTHER PEOPLES PROPERTY, without the owner's consent.

What I do believe is YOU, should determine the use of YOUR property, but not the use of OTHERS property or bodies, etc.


The "social contract" relies on an imposed hierarchy and presumes that a thing wrong for you or I to do, can magically become right if we can just get other people to go along with it. It is a contradiction.

So why should ANY person have to gain government permission to be married?

Your argument about "equality" is skewed, it defaults to the premise that rights come from government.

In reality all "marriage equality" has done for gay people is make them just as "permission seeking" as straight people.

Gay people should define their own relationships and don't need others telling them how or if those relationships are valid.
