Gardening Myths and hacks that don't work.

Icing the rootball. Who TF ever thought that was a good idea, when it is known that root temps that are too low, basically stalls everything within the plant.

And what fucking stiner reeeeallly thought OMG my buds are frostier from it.

In a way I suppose it could be "plausible" (MythBusters fan). If you urinate on a compost pile long enough, potassium nitrate (salt peter), crystals will form. It was collected from farmers and taverns during the revolutionary war to make gun powder. I'm not doing it, but I'm not saying it wouldn't work.

My grow, bro guru told me he can tell the sex of a seed just by looking at it.

There are a lot of great gardeners here with years of experience growing everything from vegetables and fruits to trees and shrubs. There may be some Master Gardeners here. I'm asking you. What gardening myths are your favorite ones that make you wonder? Weed tea? Egg shells? Molases teas. Tread lightly there are some sensitive people here. I'm not setting out to embarrass someone for "falling for it". I just want to save you some money and time.
Unsulfured molasses. Sulfur will kill your microbes. Don't plants need sulfur to live? Shouldn't your microbes be feeding on the food that the plant provides. After the microbes consume the sugars (in a few hours) now what do they eat? They die off. How is this beneficial? Your soil should have plenty of calcium and magnesium to and other minerals to support an annual plant in a pot.
Got any more doosies? These are only "opinions not based on scientific research :peace:
P.S. I have a bottle of organic unsulfured black strap molasses in the refrigerator. Silly me. I think I almost killed my plants when I didn't measure the molasses. How can you have Molasses when they aint had lasses? (Stymie)
Every hermie is the growers fault from stress.

What's scary is that fish can live in water from the Arthur Kill but will die in municipal drinking water.

Completely different than watering plants with tap water. Fish breathe through their gills. Tap water has chlorine or chloramine. It's like a human breathing small amounts of chlorine gas constantly. It won't end well. Drinking and watering plants is perfectly safe.

We should do a case study on how much chlorine gas a Florida pool boy in an upper class neighborhood breathes in during the course of their career vs the average person. Then we could take it a step further and see if that is why Florida is the way it is.

Not a hack but a myth. Someone always has the best representation but unfortunately it's clone only, it's always pre 98 and only available in Kentucky.
