I believe that Capitalism best addresses and takes into consideration the nature of man's greed and risk taking behaviors for rewards. No other system harnesses these behaviors with the correct counter weights and balances. This is historically obvious. At least to those not blinded by partisan politics.......

Please explain where all those counterweights and balances were in this financial crises? It is pretty obvious to me that greed has taken over. Would you call this a blinded partisan political view or a fact?

The counterweights were removed by the Govt. and that led to the failure. I.E. the Govt. mandated to whom and how much and at what rate and qualifications the banks would lend mortgages at. The market was contaminated by policy wonks..... (in this case democrats).

Are there abuses in private enterprise...... duh ... sure. That's why we regulate them. the fact that you even bring it up is it a testament to the system working. Govt. has no such controls and guiding "principles" to go by. they are just looking for votes to command powah...no matter the state of the economy or who is responsible for the shambles.... in this case it falls squarely on the very govt. now perceived by the foolish as the saviors. It's a laugh......if you are educated. and have already taken measures to secure your own wealth ahead of time

Just who is the who in "we" regulate them. Isn't that supposed to be governments job, the same government you so abhor? You aren't supposing that corporations regulate themselves as they have for the last 8 frikin years. It was the Bush/Cheney laise-faire type of capitalistic greed that got us where we are today. Sure the rich are doing allright, it's the middle class and the poor who are getting beat up. Bush has done everything possible to lose regulations on any and all corporate structures and he's even now selling us out with his leaving bills or decrees or whatever they are.

You mean the fine regulation that Barney Frank imposed on Freddie and Frannie? The great social experiment gone terribly bad? Raines padding the books increase his bonus money ala 'Kenneth Lay' style? Why hasn't he been brought before congress, why isn't he in prison sharing a cell with Kenny? 'All roads lead to Rome'. Well the tenicles of economic problems lead there. Wall Street has has had its problems before, S and L scandals, Oil bust, Dot com bust, but we struggled thru it, but add the lending practices of Frannie and Freddie and we got a HUGE problem.

Haven't we been through all of this before?

Oh thats right, Bush did everything bad, I keep forgetting, glad I'm reminded of this 'fact'.

So now big oil are saints, right? Still evil?

I don't abhor govt. med man, not at all. I abhor a govt. poorly run....... I abhor a Congress which gives us a meltdown and then spins themselves into the savior position, while engaging FDR solutions. We will all pay through our noses for this last election cycle. As with FDR, the 'solutions" will turn out to be the worst culprit of all. The question is how much worse will the Govt. make the economic situation before people have had enough BS. So far I see nothing that will help us out of the long time coming calamity. I only see economic misery ahead....so far.

I don't know what you are talking about. I'm no right winger, however I do adhere to proven and sound economic policies.
In the illogical minds of the socialists/fascists/communists ... to wit, Med, your logical mind makes you a "right winger."

Vi, jax is right of hitler, mussolini, even Nixon.
And there you go again with your misinformed/uninformed bullshit.

Hitler was a socialist. Mussolini was a socialist. Nixon, like a good little socialist, instituted wage and price controls. Hardly a right winger, eh?

Who would you call a right winger, I mean besides your self and Max and a few other holes? Seems like there are a few "commie" haters in here.

I don't know if I've ever met an ultra-right winger here in the forum, but I can assure you of one thing ... the fact that a person is anti-economic slavery and pro-limited government, doesn't make one a fascist. Honestly, you need to reevaluate your terms.
