I’ll bet that works pretty well, as long as they set up ok. Since you’re running with the res drain to waste they’ll have much more of the root mass exposed to air than they would in DWC.

That video shows how to make the water farms real easy and cheap and they work pretty well. I put a bigger air pump on mine and it really pumps out some water through the drip ring like way more than a general hydro water farm it’s more of a steady stream from each hole in the ring than a drip now and then. And it’s adding bubbles to bottom solution so I think it’s a win win double the air

i run mine that way. a 2 outlet air pump to each: 1 for the dripring and 1 for a airstone in the bottom res.

it's a pretty awesome design IMO. but a few tweaks make it bettter for sure

It sure looks like it will work great. Can’t wait to see how it grows

I checked on the plants this morning and when I opened the flowering side there was water all over the floor. Total shock sets in and you can’t think for a second or two. Then you start scanning for obvious leaks or sprays of solution. Didn’t see any, looked at the mess on the floor and decided it wasn’t that bad (only a gallon). Then I saw the drips coming off the finger in back. Roots grew into the res and expanded enough to block the return. Had to get out the fiskars and do some hacking. Looks real bad in the pics I know, but it had to go, no way for the finger to drain with this in it. Up where my hand is there’s a return pice of PVC and it’s about an inch inside diameter. Well that was all used up. That’s a 2 gallon bucket so it’s not a small section of root, we’ll see How she does without it.

Been a week and that plant never missed a beat.

The rootball was from the plant making the biggest bud too, so I was afraid she’d lay down for a day or two, but she toughed it out. Yeah I know I burnt the tips; again…..
