Hi has anyone on here ever had experience growing the BIG BLUE CHEESE strain??

Also iv seen ppl grow in tents using HPS lighting with like 4-5-6 plants and they don't even yield 1pound out of that many crops...y is that?
Is it bcoz they way there growing it or is it bcoz of the environment it's grown in it what??

My target is to get at least close to a pound per tree in the long run after a few grows.

I think people are not getting the weight they want with 1000w bc they arnt using topping, popping and pruning techniques. They just let the plant grow all wonky and thats not ideal. And of course, environment could be a factor also

Yeah I was thinkn te same thing,they're not topping there plants..
How many times can u top the same plant to get as many colas growing from the one crop??
As I said in my post I want to at least get close to a pound per plant.

Couple times should be adaquate. Kinda depends on strain...I've topped some of mine several times before flower(usually about an 8 wk period veg). I'll even cut back stretchiness to get more of a wine glass shape. I have even cut them back 2 weeks into flower if they are making my canopy uneven. They never miss a beat, the energy is then redirected to the new top

Over-fertilizing(doesn't always present itself as burning or discoloration), under-fertilizing, over-watering, under-watering, improper nutrient ratios, improper air circulation/ventilation, temperatures too high or low, inefficient/old ballasts, old bulbs/cheap bulbs, overly-aggressive canopy manipulation during flower, soil compaction from cheap dirt and "flushing", over-filling the space, under-filling the space, improper plant spacing, strain........just to name a few.

Yeah Iv taken all those other possibilities into consideration too,been doing heaps of reading and asking other ppl who have done a few grows too..

I asked a friend of mine and he said 2-4 times max on topping a plant???
I guess each time u top a plant it's gonna hold YA back a week or two right?
I'll do anything to get the highest yield possible with each plant...my target is to end up getn close to a pound each plant (fingers crossed)

HPS means indoors, eh? New growers should be glad to cure one oz. per plant growing indoors.

Ur prob a master at this stuff Steve but I think a ounce per plant is ridiculous....if I ever yield that much from one crop I'll quit on the spot,I wudnt waste my time aye!

the first topping i do is at the 4th node ,then i top every 3rd node from there twice ,then i start lst and super cropping

Maybe one oz./per sounds trivial to you, but I harvested 100+ plants last year. It took many months to get my perpetual grow dialed in to the point where I harvest 2 of my short bushy indicas every week. Do the math. Am I wasting my time? I'm retired and think my time gardening is well spent.

Hint -- it is difficult to start a grow with sky-high expectations, eh? Instead of concentrating on yield it may be more productive for you to work on developing a strain that meets your needs. I used mostly clones I generated from Blueberry Gum seeds from G13 Labs. I wanted a strain that was short and bushy (more growing points), FAST (my BG clones veg for 4 weeks and flower for about 7 weeks) and easy to clone. I went through dozens of strains before finding that one strain that met all my perpetual grow needs. Another advantage to the BG is that it's bushy phenotype (genetics that largely determine plant shape) make it a great candidate for re-growing. BG re-grows typically veg and flower a week quicker than they do first time around. So, 9 weeks after harvesting a plant I am re-harvesting a second crop. Also, re-grows yield 125-175% of the original harvest!

I know I sound like a commercial for Blueberry Gum but that is not my intention. I'm just using the strain as an example of how I was able to define what I wanted in a perpetual strain and how the BG fit my needs.

Another commercial -- I was able to try out many dozens of different strains due to all the freebies I got from ordering from Attitude. A typical order for 12 or 15 beans in 3 or 4 packs would be sent with a dozen free single seeds of varying strains. Was a huge help in searching for just what I wanted.

Factor in the strain you choose some people grow multiple strains expecting a lot when they all produce differently. Im averaging about 390-460 grams of GSC with one 600 HPS light in a 4x4 tent 6-8 plants in 1 gal smart pots all within 90 days or so.The most I got so far 496 but I added a green crack pheno so that boasted my yield so thats what I mean by choosing a strain and the rule of thumb is a gram per watt so shoot for that, I do a lot of super cropping and topping with a scrog to get those numbers if you want a pound per plant be prepared for a long veg time.

Thanks for ur feedback Steve...
Iv been researching a lot of diff strains from a whole heap of diff banks,I look for the one which has a high yield outcome so I found one that looked and sounded pretty good which was the BIG BLUE CHEESE strain..
Would it be right to say that growing in a tent and growing in a room will get diff yields,or is that a false assumption???
Which strain do u think is the best to grow massive yields and doesn't have a long flowering time?

Hey dude..u say ur averaging about 390-460 grams...is that per harvest with 6-8 plants??
That's not much at all aye,but if it's personal use then yeah that's prob a good amount.
I asked my fren who owns the local hydro shop here bout tent grows and he said if I have 8-10 plants in one tent to have at least 4x400watt HPS in there..he said that wud have a nice yield...
Well I guess this game is all about trial and error I guess,can never determine an actual amount.

Its actually a good amount for a 4x4 area and 1 light and remeber this is all around 90 days total ,I know I can get more if I veg longer my veg time now is about 5 weeks from rooted clone so if I wanted more I can simply veg longer, If you ever grown GSC then you know this strain is not much of a yielder. 4x400 watts is a bit much imo that's 4 different ballast you will need , you can get away with 2x600 Hps with good heat exhaust and drop the lights lower for more light penetration but yea like you said its all trial and error. Don't let the hydro shop talk you into buying more then you need . good luck!

kenny are you telling me you are going to put 4 400 watt Hps bulbs in a 4x4 tent,if you are your a idiot,first off it will burn the crap out of anything you try to grow in there ,a second you will probaly burn your dam house down ,yes i can really see that 4- 400 watt Hps with exhaust fans at least 2 with 2 reg fans and with all that heat a ac ,hope you plan on hiring a electrician to wire all that shit up , wow my the force be with you
