I don't think getting off the grid necessitates living in poverty.
I would certainly suggest keeping your health insurance and dental plan.

I've spent years to design & create a semi-self sustaining, "In the Country" enviorment". However, the same problems arose as has ALL social Communities. Farming is hard work, which I love, but with "others" not helping, not having financial guidelines, it's all screwed. Review the Divorce rate, & the rate of sucessful buiness partnerships. The sucess rate of finding the right people is only about 20%. So, beware. My theory was, why should 3 neighbors have to buy seprate tractors, water wells, plant 3 gardens, raise individual farm stock; pigs, chickens, etc, when one well, tractor, garden, ect., would save a LOT of money. But, it didn't work for me. Good Luck.one of my dreams and goals has been to establish a moneyless society based on group owned land in a good climate......... it is becoming more and more attainable every day.... sure wish some people would band together with me seriously and committed like I am with honesty and integrity to make dreams become reality....... we could do it...... we have thus far chosen not to....... not a dream for me and mine.... but "us" to set a good example for the world...... to truly finally abolish slavery and effectively defy the elite.......
form of currency? DANK! lolLove the idea. But what about land taxes? the goverments going to want money.
will a doctor work without pay?
even IF off the grid, we would need supplies from the outside, and having a source of currency is a MUST.
This kind of reminds me of the book, The Stand, by Steven King, where people form a community....
ohhh so much to say........ but I will wait to elaborate.....
my head is spinning (Im really sick)
Replace currency, with a different system of value........ I will write more about it later......
takes lots of money to live without money......
and...... living within society in a State, is living completely ON the grid....... of course feeble attempts won't work in those places..... If you have health insurance, a job, etc. your on the grid, you pay taxes, your on the grid.... Im on the grid too, just the part thats a little harder to sort out
Come to Maine buy a house with 12 acres or more for 40,000 and live cheap until you get off the grid. 300 dollars a month in bills for me fuck working hunt fish forage grow cut wood bam done. Bartering is a way of life up here also and everyone loves the ganj.
