ehhh if they really want to they can take 200 pieces of the platter and run them individualy through a reader then recreate the HDD through common byte strings. So really all you need is a capacitor connected to an electro magnet to release the capacitors electricity to the electromagnet after being tripped by a securty device. its all been done before.
But an EMP WILL erase anything written on a hard drive. If its a stronger magnetic field than used to write the disk than it erases the disk. Even simple neodymium magnets will erase standard HDD's. I know because i work on cell sites and they use advanced HDD's as paige RAM that use neodymium magnets to write the drive. they are out dated now but i break them down and pull the magnets and platters to sell them. only the magnets sell and the platters we put on our door handles. it looks cool. ill take a pic tomorrow. and they still retain a mild magnetic charge and will pull your keys to them
128 wep is de encrypted in seconds using standard algorithm's. thats almost the first thought of any cyber active investigator. if i wanted to and was in range of your "secure network" i could easily penetrate your 128 encryption and even exploit it to become undetectable. I could even proxy through your network once compromised. its all a matter of will. Who really want to bother with all that. Some lames will though just to make others feel frustrated
