I stayed at the camp last night. Not too cold and clear enough for good star gazing. There was frost on the tarp and some ice in the water keg, but when I looked online it said our low was 31F. Pretty warm today. Got up to 60F. At 1835 it's clear, 54F with 36% humidity. Forecast high low of 60/40F with 10% chance of rain tonight. 10 day high low of 77/40F with two days of possible rain. I have this weekend off, so rain on Friday and Sunday.

Wunderground is working for now. We did replace the boss' old PC, which the wifi runs through. That might have made a difference.

There was a good explanation of it on last night's News Hour. What is happening is a disruption of the stratospheric polar vortex, {30 miles above the pole} when a bubble of warmer air rises up and pushes the cold air out. That cold air can get caught up in the jet stream, {still high, but much closer to earth} and it gets pushed down into the widwest and east coast.

60F and warm sun in northern Colorado today. I took my dog for a nice walk around the lake at City Park. Lots of people out doing the same!

It was warm here today. I stayed at the camp {for the last three nights} and the fog rolled in about 2200 last night. Everything was wet this morning, so I had to go back on the Kabota and bring my sleeping bag home to dry out.

At 1830 it's clear, 63F with 85% humidity. High low of 69/56F with 20% chance of rain tonight. Highs in the 70's the rest of the week.

85% RH, sounds like a wet blanket.

Not too bad for this time of day. Unless we have a cold front coming through, it going to be high at night, and get a little lower in the warm part of the day.

It was a wet blanket this morning. Or rather, a wet sleeping bag. The fog was on everything under the tarp this morning. But the two mornings before my shit was almost as wet. I lay a tarp down, then my tyvec, then the sleep pad and sleeping bag. It's all wet every morning. I bag up my sleeping bag and keep it in a storage tub, and it was just too wet to be closed up. I had to come back and pick it up. Since I leave so much gear there, I use a slack pack for walking to camp. Too small for my cold weather bag.

Here is the new location this morning as I was packing up.

Hi Larry, just wondering what your doing out in the woods at camp?Dont think I would like the openest to sleep that way,I would need a tent.
I have the tarp in front porch mode for ease of getting around. I lower it when there is a chance of rain. As far as what I do, most nights I get in a few miles of walking. Listen to music {and the BBC} Build a fire and make coffee. Smoke a bowl or three.

I lost two camps in the hurricane. They had beds and shit. I'm not opposed to glamping. But right now the condition my condition is in prevents me from doing too much. {this camp is not on my land, so I don't want to put too much stuff there} I do hope to get a trail cut into some of my land so I can start a new camp. The silver lining of loosing my pole barn, sheds and having to re-roof the house, I will have lots of metal to build with. My next camp might not be tarp and paracord.

When I'm really hiking, I have a lightweight tarp I use. In the summer I add a mesh tent to the mix. I do have a bunch of tents, but sadly none of them are under two pounds, except the mesh. Every Christmas I talk about how much I would love to have a Lightheart Gear SoLong 6, but so far my wife hasn't got the hint.

It stayed in the 60's today. At 1745 it's mostly cloudy, 65F with 77% humidity. Forecast high low of 68/58F with 20% chance of rain tonight. It was sprinkling when I drove to work this morning. Haven't seen any since. Tomorrow is supposed to be back in the 70's.

I'm working pretty late for a Sunday, so I might not make to the camp tonight. But then again, I most likely will.

It started off cool, but warmed up nicely. Especially after I cranked up the chainsaw. Got a good deal done. Lots and lots left though.

I can tell you that Tuesday night was windy as hell. I stayed at the camp and didn't get much sleep. Something about blow-downs just hanging on and high winds don't make for a restful night.

Do you ever run into other people walking/wondering around while at your camps in the woods?I know the woods here are not as private that I would like and would surly run into others sooner or later.

At the actual camps, I'm on family land, so if I do run into anyone, it's kin folks. But I try to get a few miles of walking in, and most of my hiking trails were messed up by the hurricane. It's usually pretty late, but I almost always end up doing some road walk. I can have cars pass me, but it's not very common. After about 9 o'clock you don't see any traffic on the roads.
