Good Morning/Weather Report Suite

It's been raining in DC, and windy, and cold. Tonday, though, looks spectacular. At 0820 It is already 49°F and climbing into the 60s this afternoon. The sun is out. The sky is blue. Tuesday became Wednesday. Length of day is now 11 h 28 m and I can see where the sun is hitting the ground out back. Grass is sprouting there from seed I put down last week. Weird.

Isn't that kind of crazy? Once you get to spring things shake out and you don't see these extremes between high and low??

That is a pretty wide range for us. It must have been a cold front passing through the night before. Most days there is 20-25 degrees between high and low. Too damn soon it will be 70/90F.

Rainy night and day here. No real bad storms though and the worst of it is past. At 1345 there is a rain shower, 70F with 89% humidity. Forecast high low of 70/48F with 10% chance of rain today, 20% tonight and 10% tomorrow. 10 day high low of 78/38F with 3 days possible rain.

We’re expecting a few showers over the next week too. It’s supposed to be 81 today. Was 83 yesterday. Low was 47 when I woke.

We had a nice few days, even though it has been chilly. Our temp swings haven't been too crazy. Maybe some showers today, nothing over the top. Tomorrow work takes me back to NYC for several days.

I've got plans for a greenhouse on the south side of the house. I'm hopping it will help mitigate some temperature swings and let me get some autos outside before Spring. Haven't actually built the thing, but I think about it.

I have some auto seeds standing by in case I do.

I've thought about some bush greenhouses for my spring crop, but have never done it. I've lost plants to the cold every year I've grown in winter.

The wife has been wanting a real green house for a while. I've built a few redneck (above ground) ones with scrap posts, 2x4's and plastic sheeting. But since we've bought the riverhouse, it's up in the air. Literally, it would have to be up in the air if we built one close to the house. The house is 6 feet off the ground for a reason. Talk about raised bed.

There is a little spot where the wrecked barn is that don't flood. If we built one on the ground it would have to go there. But it has too many trees, it's too far from the house and too close to the road to be safe (for when weed gets to be legal here).

Because of the hurricane wrecking the longleaf pines behind the house, we can put one there where it would be on the south side of the house, away from the road and getting full sun. Also because of the hurricane, we have enough windows to build a nice sized one.

It was a cooler, but sunny day. We went from 38 to 62F. At 2040 it's clear, 51F with 64% humidity. Forecast low of 41F with 0% chance of rain tonight and tomorrow, 10% tomorrow night. 10 day high low of 80/49F with 1 day of possible rain.

I always try to take my winter beard all the way to the spring equinox, but the first time the sweat drips out of it, it goes, no matter what the calendar says. It's 12 days away. Not sure if my beard will last the week if that forecast is right.

In sun and moon news, the sun sets at 6:35 and the moon rises at 6:36. Tonight is going to be a good night for walking with 96% of the moon illuminated. I'm at 11 hours 45 minutes length of day, with tomorrow being 1 minute and 51 seconds longer. Doesn't look like I'm going to hit the 2 minute of gain mark. It been going up real slow.

Another nice day. Breezy at times, with more clouds in the afternoon. We went from 53-74F. At 1720 it's partly cloudy, 71F with 40% humidity. Forecast low of 55F with 10% chance of rain tonight, 20% tomorrow and 10% tomorrow night. 10 day high low of 83/54F with 1 day of possible rain.

Wunderground was an hour off on moon rise. The wife and I went down to the riverhouse when I got in from work to walk. We got done well before sunset, and the moon was already up. But I did get in some good walking. Walked to the pavement and back, but also did the loop at the river camp a couple of time.

Full moon tonight. I don't often stay at the rivehouse on work nights, but the house leveling guys showed up today, so I'll be staying down there every night this week. Will try to get in some miles tonight.

More clouds today. We went from 55-79F today. At 1815 it's mostly cloudy, 72F with 56% humidity. Forecast low of 56F with 20% chance of rain tonight, 10% tomorrow and tomorrow night. 10 day high low of 86/56F with 0 days of possible rain.

It's been foggy every morning. Enough I felt safe to walk out on the deck of the river house naked and didn't fear the cops getting called by the across the river neighbors.

Only four more days until actual Spring. My LoD is 11 hours 58 minutes with tomorrow being 1 minute and 52 seconds longer. Looks like I will hit equilibrium a couple three days early.

My work just shut down until May. We will see what's what then and decide what to do. I'll come in once a week to tend the lobby plants, so I'll check in then. You guys hold the fort down.

Oh yea, it was 85'ish hot today with a short shower.

Good Morning. Hope all is well. We have had a little bad weather here and there, but over all it's been really nice the last couple three weeks. Too dry though. We did get some rain from these last two fronts to come through. Last night it was cool enough for me to wear my buff on my nightly walk.
