hey, i was here wondering what is the average time a plant should be vegged for, and about how long do the plants need till they can be put into flowering? basically what is the average veg time (how many weeks) for plants, and how many weeks is there before flowering should be introduced

I veg until I see pre-flowers then throw them in flower shortly after, some people recomend 8 weeks. How big you want them and their final container size will determine how long you want to veg them for.

will 24/0 be good lighting for veg or should i do 18/6 as i heard some dark time gives the plant a break from growing
You can veg them 24/0 just fine. 18/6 works and so does 16/8. It all comes down to personal preference. Vegging plants don't need darkness. Flowering plants do.

It depends on the space and time frame you have available. If space or time is not a concern, I recommend vegging for 4-6 weeks for your first plant.

24hour light works fine. 18/6 or 16/8 will result in lower light bills. It's all about what works for you.

Tons of variables to consider, most important how much space do you have for flowering, assuming this is an indoor grow. You dont NEED to veg for any specific time, people grow 12/12 from seed which is essentially no veg period, or at least one minimized by the strain.

I veg mine 24 hrs because i feel like it keeps them short and bushy, I may be wrong, that's just what I have experienced. 18/6 is fine and saves a little on electricity, what type of lighting do you have?

I would like to know how the Op has so much rep and so little knowledge.....
Because people rep for other reasons than grow knowledge. Don't look at rep for indicator, look at join date and post count. Then look at what they said. Google what they said.

I never take anything at face value.

from seed usually 2 months / 8 weeks. from clones that have rooted properly, its up to you, how big do you want it to be, maybe a month.

I take your profile name at face value, but I'm a perv. ;-)

Personally, I use 24h light when in veg because it helps me control the temperature of my room. It gets too cool at night and I'd rather not place a heater in the room.

I usually go 30 days in veg from seed, either LSTing or Topping at the 6th node down to the 4th.
I also prefer 20/4, some darkness seems to help them (not scientifically speaking just personal opinion).

The good thing about books over forums is the information in books is contained in a controlled environment. You have all the information you need to grow your plants. I suggest you get one or two and read up.

Here, there are thousand ways to accomplish the same task. Worse yet, these same questions have been asked 15 times in the last 30 days so some of the members get frustrated with the repeats.

I understand your position about speaking to a "live" audience, just realize you will have real, un-edited responses and 50% of the time, bad answers. This is a great social website and a place to bring questions that are outside the normal gardening activities.

Good luck on your grow!

Because little green rep boxes and post count don't mean anything, at all, whatsoever. There are people with 10,00 posts and lots of little green boxes that are clueless. On the other hand I've seen posts that were put up by brand new members with 5 posts that dead-on nailed a question.

Gotta learn to pick out the wheat from the chaff.
